Do you recognise this man? Then Kingaroy Police would like to hear from you.

Security cameras at the Kingaroy Car and Dog Wash in Rogers Drive, Kingaroy, captured this man at 4:20am on Sunday morning attempting to jemmy open coin boxes.

The man has his face partially covered and is wearing gloves.  He was carrying bolt cutters and a crowbar.

Business owner Richard Mason said the man also attempted to enter the office.

“He cut a lock off our self-serve bays to take money from the coin box then moved to the vacuums,” he said.

“He attempted to break open a door on the vacuum machine but was scared off by a passing car on Rogers Drive.  He left out the back through an escape route he had made earlier in the night.

“What is happening to this community?  When I first came to town in the mid-1980s there were little or no reported break-ins in Kingaroy. Now this is occurring on a daily basis.

“We have the car wash business that is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It is convenient that you can wash your car at anytime of the day or night.  We have a large number of cameras on site that record what is going on when staff are not on site. This is a small business that provides a good service at a reasonable cost.

“If this person happened to steal money or damage our equipment we will be forced to increase our prices. Then everyone in the community pays for the greed of this one individual.

“As a community we need to stop this and make it clear to these people they are not welcome in this region.”

The incident occurred just the night before a large sum of cash was stolen during a break-in at Mitre 10, which is also located in Rogers Drive.

Other recent break-ins at commercial premises in Kingaroy include two incidents in River Road during the past fortnight.
