South Burnett Regional Council has advised that there is an error on a small number of the 18,500 rates notices that were recently issued.

The affected rates notices are displaying an incorrect “net payable” figure.

A Council spokesman said three batches containing payments made in March 2014 have been updated twice. This has caused some bills to show a Credit balance with the notation “Account fully paid – NO PAYMENT REQUIRED”.

“Council staff are presently working together with our software provider to correct the error,” the spokesman said.

“Council will be contacting those affected ratepayers by letter this week advising them of the error and providing them with the correct balance that is payable.

“Council apologises for any inconvenience caused.”

  1. Last quarter it was wrong BPay numbers, this quarter the wrong amounts to be paid. If council can not even send out correct bills how can they be responsible enough to spend the money received properly?
