Hopes that Kingaroy may get a new or renovated courthouse following the recent visit of Attorney-General Jarrod Blejie seem distant, but the good news is the courthouse clock is going to be repaired.

Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington said today the Kingaroy Courthouse grounds and clock would soon be getting some ‘TLC’.

Mrs Frecklington said that following the recent visit by the Attorney-General and discussions with the Department, arrangements are being put in place to maintain the clock and grounds on a more regular basis.

“I know that there have been concerns about the general untidiness of the area outside the Kingaroy Courthouse, and about the clock being the wrong time,” Mrs Frecklington said.

“I took the opportunity while the Attorney-General was in Kingaroy this month to highlight the problem and the Department has let us know that immediate action will be taken to tidy up the grounds and fix the clock.

“The courthouse staff have been doing their best to have the problem resolved, and this extra push will see this main part of Kingaroy looking much tidier.”

  1. Government accommodation is just that. Basic. Government buildings are mostly owned by Public Works, they don’t run these places like the Taj Mahal. Living in teacher’s housing and working in schools for 30 years I can assure you getting Works to pay for anything was like getting blood out of a stone. Delaying tactics, passing the buck, conveniently losing complaints, citing policies they couldn’t even produce were all games they played. Try the playground at the school near here, we had to put a barrier around one of the pieces of equipment for eight months before the powers-that-be squabbled between themselves and decided who was going to pay to fix it. Have a look at the state of Housing Commission homes, some of the wards in the hospital and the police station in Kingaroy and you will see that public works spends the bare minimum to get by. I would love to see a couple of Sir Joh’s bulldozers drag a chain down Alford and Kingaroy streets and carpet a few places, starting with the Club Hotel. The green space under the clock is actually the nicest part of the street, don’t wreck it!

  2. Here we go again not long ago a huge add on to Council Building, Now the court house and the clock being the wrong time how pathetic, spend up in other towns fix the clock cheaper.
