Kingaroy Police are encouraging residents to work together to report and help stop graffiti following a number of cases in recent months.

“Graffiti causes considerable damage and costs to both private and community premises. It is classed as unlawful and wilful damage and can carry significant penalties,” a police spokesman said.

To help stamp out graffiti, residents are urged to:

  • Be vigilant especially where public and community facilities are concerned.
  • Report graffiti promptly to GraffitiStop on 1300 GRAFFITI (1300-472-334) or online

South Burnett Regional Council is registered with this program and can attend to the report.

Council can also be contacted directly on (07) 4189-9100.

If you are a victim of graffiti damage, report the matter to police. If possible, take photographs of the graffiti before attempting to remove it.

Where the perpetrator of the graffiti is apprehended and brought before the courts, there may be the opportunity to seek compensation for the financial expenses incurred in the clean-up.

“It’s our community. Let’s all help to stop this disappointing behaviour. Crime prevention is everyone’s responsibility,” the police spokesman said.
