Police will await the results of an autopsy to determine the cause of death of a 43-year-old Kingaroy man whose body was found near the corner of Fisher and Alford Street East about 6:30am today.
Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, said police were keen to determine the last movements of the man.
It is believed he was in the Kingaroy CBD last night at licensed premises and then proceeded to walk home about midnight towards his address in Haly Street.
His body was found only a short distance from his home.
Senior Sgt Frank said there were superficial injuries apparent on the man’s body but the cause of death was not yet known.
Police forensic officers were called to the area this morning.
SES crews blocked off the Fisher Street / Alford Street area, near the netball courts, for several hours to allow police investigations to proceed.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
