South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Proston Christmas Carnival
The annual Proston Christmas Carnival will be held at the Proston Showgrounds on the Proston-Boondooma Road west of town from 5:30pm to around 9:00pm this evening. This year's Christmas Carnival will feature an array of food and merchandise stalls, a chocolate wheel, raffles, children's games, face painting, a jumping castle and slides, live music and a licensed bar. Proston Men's Shed
The Proston Men's Shed will be meeting at their workshop buildings at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston for their regular Saturday morning get-together today, kicking off with a cuppa at 9:00am and continuing on until noon. Kumbia Christmas Carnival
Kumbia's 22nd annual Christmas Carnival will be held in and around Kumbia Hall in Bell Street from 5:00pm until late this evening. Features of this year's event will include a special focus on crafts, with lots of craft stalls selling unique, hand-crafted Yuletide gifts; a jumping castle and other fun stalls for children; live musical entertainment; and the drawing of a raffle for a Giant Christmas Hamper, along with lots of quick ham and chook raffles. A sausage sizzle BBQ will be running and there'll also be hot chips, tea, coffee, soft drinks, ice creams and desserts available in the grounds. Santa himself will be paying a visit to give away sample bags to children up to Year 7 at around 7:15pm. There'll also be lots of market stalls around the grounds too. Kilkivan Christmas Carnival
Kilkivan's annual Christmas Carnival will be held at the Kilkivan Showgrounds at 88 Mudlo Road from 6:00pm until late tonight. The Christmas Carnival will feature live entertainment, a licensed bar and food trucks along with lots of family fun. Santa will also be paying a visit at around 7:00pm. Everyone is welcome and there's no admission charge.
Kingaroy Men's Shed
The Kingaroy Men's Shed will be holding their regular Saturday morning meeting at the old Motor Pool building off Geoff Raph Drive at Kingaroy Airport from 9:00am to around noon today. The group meet every Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday morning and new members and visitors are always welcome.
Christmas Dance - Inverlaw
The popular Inverlaw Dance will be held at Inverlaw Hall on the Burrandowan Road (roughly 20km from Kingaroy) from 8:00pm until late tonight, and this month it will be a special Christmas Dance with music supplied by Chattanooga. There'll also be the usual great supper and novelties - some with a Yuletide theme - along with a Lucky Door. Saturday Line Dancing - Wooroolin
Line dancing classes will be held at Wooroolin Hall on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin this morning. Classes will run from 9:00am to 10:00am (beginners) and 10:30am to 12:30pm (improvers) and a small dancing fee applies to either class. Everyone is welcome.
Rome, Sweet Rome - Wondai
SOLD OUT: The South Burnett Musical Comedy Society will be presenting the second performance of their new theatre-restaurant production "Rome, Sweet Rome" at the Wondai Diggers Club in Mackenzie Street, Wondai 6:30pm tonight. Tickets to tonight's show are sold out, but there are still a few available for performances at the Kingaroy Bowls Club on the 16th and 17th December which can be booked online.
Yarraman Men's Shed
The Yarraman Men's Shed at the end of Mill Street, Yarraman will be holding one of its regular get-togethers from 10:00am to 4:00pm today. The Men's Shed is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and new members are always welcome. More details? Send them an email
Wooroolin Community Markets
The Wooroolin Community Markets will be held inside the Wooroolin QCWA Rooms on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin from 6:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning as part of today's Wooroolin celebrations (see entry elsewhere on this page). The markets offer stalls, a sausage sizzle, fresh produce, plants and crafts and are run on the 2nd Saturday of every month except January. Yarraman Markets
The Yarraman Progress Association's Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways (ie opposite Bendigo Bank) in Yarraman from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today. The markets - now held on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th Saturday each month - feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls.
