Nanango Country Markets
The Nanango Show Society will be holding their regular monthly Country Markets at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street from 6:00am to around 12:00 noon today. As usual, the markets will feature a wide variety of craft stalls, new and used goods, plants, poultry and pets. The Nanango Markets are the largest rural market in south east Queensland and attract up to 420 stallholders. But new stallholders are always very welcome too! More info? Proston Men's Shed
- The Proston Men's Shed will be meeting at their workshop buildings at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston for their regular Saturday morning get-together today, kicking off with a cuppa at 9:00am and continuing on until noon. The Wrapping Room - Nanango
The Palace Players will be giving the third (and final) performance of their latest production - "A Christmas Mystery" - at the Palace Lounge at 77 Drayton Street, Nanango from 7:00pm to 9:00pm tonight. The two-act play is a mystery for the whole family and tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for children or concessions, or $40 for a family of four. Tickets can be booked online. More details? Saturday Line Dancing - Wooroolin
- Line dancing classes will be held at Wooroolin Hall on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin this morning. Classes will run from 9:00am to 10:00am (beginners) and 10:30am to 12:30pm (improvers) and a small dancing fee applies to either class. Everyone is welcome.
Chess, The Musical Info Session - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Musdical Comedy Socioety will be holding an information session about their upcoming production of Chess, The Musical at Kingaroy's Church of Christ at 254 Haly Street from 5:30pm to 7:30pm this evening. Widgee Carols By Glowstick
Widgee's annual community Christmas get-together Carols By Glowstick will be held at the Bushman's Bar at 22 Upper Widgee Road in Widgee from 5:15pm until late tonight. Santa will be arriving at around 5:30pm and there'll be a performance by the Widgee Fire Choir, followed by The Greyfarers at 6:45pm. A free sausage sizzle for children will also be running from 5:15pm and the bar's kitchen will be serving up two-course Christmas meals from 6:00pm. Everyone is welcome and there's no admission fee.
Yarraman Men's Shed

La Creme Dance Academy Concert - Kingaroy
Nanango's La Creme Dance Academy will be holding their annual End Of Year Concert at the Kingaroy Performing Arts Centre in Kingaroy State High School's grounds at the end of Markwell Street, Kingaroy at 10:00am and again at 4:00pm today. Tickets are $20 per head and they can be booked online. Everyone is welcome!
RBS Dance Academy End Of Year Concert - Murgon
- The RBS Dance Academy will be holding their End Of Year Concert at Murgon State High School's multi-purpose hall at 2 Dutton Street in Murgon from 5:30pm (when doors open) to 8:30pm tonight. The concert will feature performances from all the school's dancers and tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for young people aged 3 to 11 and free for U3s if they're in a pram (or $5 if they require a seat). There'll also be a cash canteen available selling packaged snacks and drinks. Tickets to the show can be booked online.
Chris Wenner - Kingaroy

- The Kingaroy Men's Shed will be holding their regular Saturday morning meeting at the old Motor Pool building off Geoff Raph Drive at Kingaroy Airport from 9:00am to around noon today. The group meet every Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday morning and new members and visitors are always welcome.
Pig Out Night & Live Music - Yarraman
Hungry? The Royal Hotel on the D'Aguilar Highway at Yarraman will be hosting their monthly Pig Out Night from 6:00pm to 7:30pm this evening, followed by live music that will run until late. For just $20 per head for adults (or $15 for children aged 12-16) guests can tuck into a buffet of spit-roasted pork and chicken along with roast vegies, gravy, applesauce and dessert. Beef It Up - Wattle Grove
- The South Burnett Regional Council and the State and Federal Governments will be hosting Beef It Up at The Washpool in Half Mile Creek Road at Wattle Grove from 5:00pm to around 9:00pm tonight. The event will be addressed by cattle industry experts who'll discuss beef production, feedlots, transport, butchers and other topics of interest to beef producers. This is a catered event (a cash bar will be operating as well) and it's free to attend - but to help plan the catering you'll need to RSVP beforehand. All beef industry practitioners are very welcome!

The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed runs at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. - The Blackbutt parkrun group will be holding its weekly 5km timed walk/run along the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail at Blackbutt from 7:00am this morning. The starting line is adjacent to the Roy Emerson Museum, off Bowman Road. Runners follow a course along the former railway line and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online (it's officially called the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail parkrun) and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event.
Pig On A Spit Night - Wooroolin
The Grand Hotel on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin will be holding their final monthly Pig On A Spit Night for 2023 from 5:30pm until late this evening. Apart from a great roast pork meal there'll also be a Lucky Door prize, raffles and live karaoke entertainment. Tickets are $30 for adults, $20 for pensioners and $15 for primary school children and everyone is welcome. However, to help plan the catering a booking is necessary. Publican's Run - Wondai
The Cecil Hotel will be holding their monthly Publican's Run for motorcyclists this morning. Participants should assemble with their motorcycles outside the hotel in Mackenzie Street at 10:00am. After this, they'll be taken on a 2 hour mystery (with one or two pit stops) before returning to the Cecil for afternoon tea. There's no fee to take part in the Run and the afternoon tea is optional. Peter Hegarty 80th Birthday - Murgon
- Friends and relatives of Peter Hegarty are invited to Murgon Town Hall in Gore Street, Murgon at 12:00 noon today to help celebrate Peter's 80th birthday. The get-together has been organised by Peter's family.
Saturday Cricket
UPDATED: In South Burnett junior cricket, the seventh round of Stage 2 games will be played between Nanango Scorpions and Tingoora Vikings at the Alan Downie Sports Fields in Nanango, and Kingaroy Kookaburras and Kingaroy Cobras at River Road Park in Kingaroy, while in Stage 3 Nanango Scorpions will play Kingaroy, also at Nanango's Alan Downie Sports Fields, with all junior games starting at 8:00am. Meanwhile, in the Round 9 of the South Burnett senior competition, Tingoora Vikings will play Wondai Wolves at Tingoora Sportsground;
Nanango Scorpions will play Kingaroy Services Orange at the Alan Downie Sportsfields; Kingaroy Services Blue will play Tingoora Huntsmen at Taabinga State School; and Wooroolin Warriors will play Murgon at Kingaroy State School, with all senior matches starting at 12:30pm. Finally, in the Gympie A Grade One-Day Competition (12:30pm start), Wooroolin Warriors will play Gympie Harlequins at Jack Ison Oval in Gympie. The Murgon Crusaders game scheduled against Gympie Royals at Murgon Showgrounds has been washed out. Spectators are welcome at all games.
