Nanango Christmas Race Meeting
The Nanango Race Club will be holding their annual Christmas Race Meeting at the Lee Park Raceway off the D'Aguilar Highway just south of Nanango from 11:00am to around 5:00pm today. Today's races will have an "Red, Green and Gold" fashion theme and everyone is encouraged to dress up in their best Christmas hats and/or outfits to be in the running for some great Moffatdale Ridge Fashions Of The Field prizes. The race club's licensed bar and BBQ will be operating under the extended covered area; the race club canteen will be open for sit-down dining; children will be catered for with face-painting and ice creams plus a visit from Santa Claus; and there'll be plenty of bookmakers and an on-course tote in the betting ring. A lot of people like to use the Christmas race meeting for festive season parties and you're welcome to picnic on the lawns or even bring your own marquee if you like. This will be a 5 race meeting and buses will be running to the races from Kingaroy's Glendon Street Bus Depot (12:00 noon) and Scott Car Park in Nanango at 12:30pm. The first race will leave the barriers around 1:30pm but gates will open at 10:00am so go-getters can get a head start on that all-important socialising. South Burnett Speedway - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Speedway will roar into life at the Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy tonight with its third meeting for the 2023-24 season - the Christmas Cup. The feature race of the meeting will be the hotly contested Modified Sedans Prelude To The Royal, but there'll also be contests for Production Sedans, Street Stocks, National 4's and Modlites in a jam-packed program that will run from 4:00pm (when racing starts) until late tonight. There'll also be canteen facilities operating onsite and campsites will be available in the Showgrounds if you want to stay over. Admission is $30 for adults, $20 for students (with ID) and aged or disability pensioners or $85 for a family of two adults and two students (children 12 and under are free). Everyone is welcome!
Kingaroy Friendship Markets
The third Saturday of the month Friendship Markets will be held at Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy from 6:00am to around 11:30am today. The markets are run by the Kingaroy Show Society and feature a great range of arts, crafts, food stalls, fruit and garden stalls, plus unusual bric-a-brac. New stallholders are always very welcome! Nanango Stamp Club Meeting
- The Nanango Stamp Club will be holding its monthly meeting at the Long Hai room inside Nanango RSL in Henry Street, Nanango at 10:00am this morning, followed by an optional lunch at the club's servery. Moore Hall Markets
The monthly Moore Markets will be held outside the Moore Soldiers Memorial Hall off the D'Aguilar Highway in Moore from 9:00 to around 3:00pm today. The markets are held on the 3rd Saturday of every month and feature hand painted china; hand made jewellery; hand crafted dolls; quilts; biscuit tin banjos; jade; wooden toys; delightful handmade bags; plants; bric-a-brac; antiques and collectables; tea cosies; baby clothes; tea towels; candles; soaps; cakes; jams and pickles, and more. There's also great brekkies available inside the Hall, and with Christmas drawing ever closer Santa will be paying a visit today as well. Everyone is welcome!
Yarraman Men's Shed
- The Yarraman Men's Shed at the end of Mill Street, Yarraman will be holding one of its regular get-togethers from 10:00am to 4:00pm today. The Men's Shed is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and new members are always welcome. More details? Send them an email
Proston Country Markets
The monthly Proston Country Markets - organised by the Proston Show Society and held on the 3rd Saturday of each month - will be running oputside the QCWA Rooms at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston from 8:00am to around noon this morning. Stalls feature everything from craftwork to baked goods and bric-a-brac are are always fun to browse. There'll also be a great BBQ breakfast and Devonshire morning teas available, as well as a large fruit and veggie tray raffle. Saturday Line Dancing - Wooroolin
- Line dancing classes will be held at Wooroolin Hall on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin this morning. Classes will run from 9:00am to 10:00am (beginners) and 10:30am to 12:30pm (improvers) and a small dancing fee applies to either class. Everyone is welcome. Note: Today's meeting is also the group's Christmas break-up. Meetings will resume in January.
Rome, Sweet Rome - Kingaroy
SOLD OUT: The South Burnett Musical Comedy Society will be presenting the third performance of their new theatre-restaurant production "Rome, Sweet Rome" at the Kingaroy Bowls Club at 141 Youngman Street, Kingaroy at 6:30pm tonight. Tickets to tonight's show are $60 for a dinner prepared by JC Catering and the show, and they can be booked online.
Champagne Brunch - Nanango
- The Nanango Lions Club will be holding a pre-race Champagne Brunch at Ringsfield House at 41-45 Alfred Street, Nanango from 10:30am to 12:00 noon this morning as as warm-up for the Christmas Race Meeting being held at Lee Park this afternoon. Fitzroy Hotel Christmas Party - Nanango

Proston Men's Shed

Christmas Movie Night - Proston
The Proston Men's Shed and the Proston Heritage Association will be running a Christmas Movie Night at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston from 5:30pm onwards this evening (screening starts at 7:00pm). Guests should BYO chair and/or blanket to watch a free screening of the light-hearted Disney movie "The Santa Clause", and there'll be a sausage sizzle, ice cream and drinks available for purchase as well. - The Kingaroy Men's Shed will be holding their regular Saturday morning meeting at the old Motor Pool building off Geoff Raph Drive at Kingaroy Airport from 9:00am to around noon today. The group meet every Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday morning and new members and visitors are always welcome.

The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed runs at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Brisbane Valley Rail Trail Parkrun - Blackbutt
- The Blackbutt parkrun group will be holding its weekly 5km timed walk/run along the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail at Blackbutt from 7:00am this morning. The starting line is adjacent to the Roy Emerson Museum, off Bowman Road. Runners follow a course along the former railway line and the parkrun group is free to join. Yarraman Markets
The Yarraman Progress Association's Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways (ie opposite Bendigo Bank) in Yarraman from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today. The markets - now held on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th Saturday each month - feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls.
