Art Exhibition Opening - Wondai
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai will be opening their second monthly exhibition for 2014 with a wine and cheese tasting at 6:00pm tonight. The main gallery will display "Opportunity", a collection of new works by Kingaroy artist Deidre Amos. Deidre will be giving away one of her paintings on tonight and also holding a silent auction for three others. The Front Gallery, meanwhile, will display works by South Burnett artist Luby Lorens (Mimoz), while the Rear Gallery will be holding Gail Stever's first-ever exhibition of paintings and sculptures. As usual, tonight's opening will also feature great hot and cold finger foods and punch, along with wine tastings from a South Burnett winery, live entertainment and great socialising. Friday Night Social Bowls - Murgon
- The Murgon Bowls Club in Macalister Street, Murgon will be holding Friday Night Social Bowls from 6:00pm onwards this evening (bar opens at 4:00m; games start at 6:30pm). The $15 green fee includes all games and a great BBQ dinner, and it's open to bowlers and non-bowlers alike - just wear soft-soled shoes or go barefoot. Friday Night Live - Murgon
The South Burnett PCYC in Macalister Street, Murgon will be holding another of their "Friday Night Live" sessions from 6:00pm to 9:00pm this evening. Friday Night Live is open to all primary school and high school students and the get-together features music and a range of fun activities that may include Activities include any or all of the following: a jumping castle, crazy hair, ten pin bowling, dodge ball, basketball, cricket, pool tables, Xbox games, karaoke, stadium games, face painting, noodle wars, art, sport and much more. Wine & Food In The Park Dinner Under The Stars
The South Burnett Wine & Food In The Park Festival will be held in Kingaroy's Memorial Park tomorrow. And tonight - as a warm-up for this huge event - a special gala "Dinner Under The Stars" will be held in Memorial Park at 6:00pm. This $75 per head formal four course dinner will be prepared by highly-regarded chef Jimmy Stephen from Accents Catering. It will also feature South Burnett wines and live entertainment. Tickets are strictly limited to 200 and this dinner looks like being one of the region's social high points of the year. Friday Social Golf - Kingaroy
- The Kingaroy Golf Club on the Bunya Highway at Kingaroy will holding their regular Friday 9-ers 9 hole social golfing sessions for men and women from 8:00am until dusk today. Everyone is most welcome (including non-members) and green fees are $11 for members or $14 for non-members for the nine holes - but this also includes a card draw for prizes in the clubhouse in the evening (there's also a Jackpot card draw on the last Friday of each month). Friday Night Darts - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Darts Association will be holding their regular weekly Social Competition Night from 7:00pm to 10:00pm at their premises at Shed 1, 18 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. - The South Burnett Regional Council's new Swimming For Fitness program (for adults) will be held between 9:00am and 10:00am this morning at the South Burnett Aquatic Centre in Henry Street, Nanango. This program is run by a local swimming coach and is open to adults of all fitness and ability levels. It aims to teach new ways to become physically active and how to stay active for life. If you're coming along, bring your swimming togs, a towel, sun protection and (if applicable) medication. Session fees are $5 if you're in full-time employment, or $2.50 if you're not. More details? World Day Of Prayer Service - Kingaroy and Kumbia
- Today is the annual World Day of Prayer - an international, inter-denominational, inter-racial prayer movement held on the first Friday in March every year. This year it will be observed in Kingaroy with a free community morning tea at the Highway Christian Church on the D'Aguilar Highway south of town at 9:30am. This will be followed by a brief service. Kumbia will also be holding its own World Day Of Prayer service at the Kumbia Uniting Church at 1:30pm. Everyone is welcome!

South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 11:00am to 1:00pm today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $35 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items).
