South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
South Burnett Gem Show - Wondai
The South Burnett Gem and Fossicking Club will be holding the second day of their two-day Gem, Rock and Lapidary Show at the Wondai Sportsgrounds on the Bunya Highway north of Wondai's CBD from 9:00am to 2:00pm today. The event will feature unique gem, rock and mineral displays; a dealer pavilion; outdoor stalls; a jewellery raffle and lots of fun for the kids. Food and drink stalls will be operating in the grounds, too. The Gem Show is always a great family day out and admission is just $5 (under 12s are free). Kilkivan Community Garden & Railway Markets
The monthly Kilkivan Community Garden & Railway Markets - held on the last Sunday of the month (February to November) are on again from 7:00am this morning at 2a Bligh Street (opposite the hotel. For more information, or to book a stall, phone Deborah on 0448-749-727.
Bookarama - Kingaroy
St John's Lutheran School P&F will be holding the second (and final) day of their giant two-day Bookarama at Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon Street, Kingaroy from 8:00am to noon today, including a special "Happy Hour" from 11:00am to noon where all books are half price. Bookarama offers tens of thousands of books on all subjects at genuine bargain prices. The proceeds of Bookarama go to help the school. Everyone is welcome and admission is free!
Garage Sale - Murgon
Day 2 of the two-day garage sale to raise funds for the Queensland Dairy & Heritage Museum in Murgon will be held today at 15 Rewald Street, Murgon. There'll be household items, furniture and much more. The sale will run today from 7:00am to 12:30pm.
Dramatic Beginnings - Nanango
The Nanango Theatre Company will be presenting its last matinee performance of their latest productions - four one-act plays "In The Blood", "Good News Bad News", "When I Was One" and "Whoops A Daisy" - at their theatre on the corner of Elk and George streets, Nanango at 11:00am today (doors open at 10:30am). Light refreshments will be available at the interval. Tickets are $25 for adults or $20 for concessions, and they can be booked online or by phoning Neil on 0427-124-044 or Jon on 0407-631-611.
Harvest Share & Swap - Yarraman
A free community produce swap is held every Sunday from 9:00am to 10:00am at The Pink Flamingo, 19 Toomey Street, Yarraman. This is an opportunity to share your unwanted produce, seeds or seedlings.
Bunya Mountains Markets
The Bunya Mountains Markets, held on the last Sunday of every month, will be running at Dandabah in the Bunya Mountains today. The markets feature up to 30 stands selling quality, locally produced fresh produce, arts and crafts and they'll be operating from 9:00am to 2:00pm. Local cafés like Poppies On The Hill and The Bunya Mountains Café will be offering special Market Day menus and morning teas, lunches and afternoon teas. Walking trail maps will be available from both cafés, the Bunya Mountains General Store and market stalls if you'd like to take a stroll through the adjoining National Park. More details? Homemakers Swap - Kingaroy
The inaugural Kingaroy Homemakers Swap will be help from 1:00pm this afternoon at Memorial Park in Kingaroy. Bring along five identical items that you have handmade, homegrown or homebaked and swap them for five different items made by other members. The Kumbia and District Historical Society's museum, located in the Federation Heritage Centre behind Kumbia Hall in Bell Street, will be open from 1:30pm to 3:30pm this afternoon. Free Sunday Lunch - Kingaroy
A free community lunch is available every Sunday from 12:30pm to 1:30pm at The Old Railway Station building, O'Neill Square, in Kingaroy. The Community Serving Community Meals Project is co-ordinated by the South Burnett Support Alliance and relies on volunteers from the local community.
