South Burnett Speedway - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Speedway will holding its "March Madness" meeting tonight at the Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy. Tonight's meeting will feature the McCosker Super Sedans series for V8 Late Models as well as AMCA Mationals, Modified Sedans and Street Stocks. There'll be canteen facilities operating on site, and campsites are available in the Showgrounds if you want to stay over. Gates will open at 2:00pm, the Grand Parade at 4:45pm and racing will start at 5:00pm. Admission is $30 for adults, $25 for students (with ID) and aged or disability pensioners; or $85 for a family of two adults and two students (children 12 and under are free). Everyone is welcome!
Community Drop-In Session - Kumbia
Akaysha Energy, the developers of the Halys BESS, is inviting residents to meet the Akaysha team and learn more about the project from 10:00am to 1:00pm today at the Kumbia Memorial Hall, 29-31 Bell Street, Kumbia.
Wooroolin Community Markets

Back To Nanango Reunion
The annual Back To Nanango reunion for past and present Nanango residents, hosted by the Nanango Tourism and Development Association, will be held at Ringsfield House at 41-45 Alfred Street, Nanango, from 9:00am until around 2:00pm today. The Nanango History Room (located in Ringsfield's grounds) will be open to display historical items and there will also be a preview in the old church of the Nanango Living History Project. Food and drinks will be available to buy. Visitors will also be able to wander through the Nanango Handmade Markets which will also be happening in the grounds! Nanango Handmade Markets
- Nanango craftspeople will be holding a boutique handmade market from 9:00am to 2:00pm today in the grounds of historic Ringsfield House, 41-45 Alfred Street, Nanango. Rugby League - Nanango
The Nanango Stags will be hosting a full day of rugby league action today at Fred Kassulke Oval. At 11:15am, South Burnett U16s will take on Dalby; followed at 12:30pm by South Burnett U17s facing Chinchilla. At 2:00pm, the Nanango Stags A Grade team will play the Kilcoy Yowies in a tough pre-season trial game. Entry is free!
Afghanistan Day Service - Nanango
- A service to commemorate the service of Australian Defence Force personnel in Afghanistan - Australia's longest war - will be held from 10:00am this morning at the Nanango Cenotaph, on the corner of Henry and Drayton streets. All welcome!
South Burnett Cricket
The Preliminary final of the South Burnett senior cricket competition will be played today from 12:30pm at the Wondai Cricket Ground (or if the pitch is wet, Taabinga State School). The winner will face Saints in the Grand Final on March 21. South Burnett junior competition games will also be played from 8:00am. Stage 1: Kumbia Rattlers v Kingaroy Kangaroos at Kumbia Sportsground; Stage 2: Kingaroy Kookaburras v Nanango Scorpions Purple at Taabinga State School; and
Kingaroy Cobras v Nanango Scorpions Yellow at River Road Oval, Kingaroy; and Stage 3: Kingaroy v Nanango Scorpions at Lyle Vidler Oval. In the Gympie A Grade competition, Day 2 of the two-day competition Grand Final will be played between Wooroolin Warriors and Gympie Harlequins at Jack Ison Oval in Gympie.
Winter Veges 101 - Wondai
- Bottle Tree Organics is holding a winter vege growing course for beginners today at The Studio, beside Wondai Regional Art Gallery. There will be an emphasis on permaculture techniques covering topics including soil, varieties of plants, climate, weeds, pests and composting. Tickets are $50 which includes lunch, morning tea, notes and some seeds. Bookings are essential and can be made online

Yarraman Horse Ride
The 25km Yarraman Horse Ride will depart from the Yarraman Showgrounds on the New England Highway south-west of Yarraman at 8:00am this morning for a guided ride around the Yarraman district. Riders need to pre-book for the ride and the BBQ lunch ($40 per adult or $25 per child). The ride will be preceded by a pre-ride talk at 7:30am. Tonight there'll also be a $25 per person pre-booked spit roast dinner available at the Showgrounds. Come & Try Dragon Boating - BP Dam
The Barambah Dragons dragon boat club invites people to try out the ancient Chinese sport of dragon boat racing at Bjelke-Petersen Dam from 9:00am (for a 9:30am paddle-off) on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. Paddles and gear will be supplied but participants should wear closed shoes that can tolerate getting wet and bring along sunscreen, water, a towel and warm clothes for afterwards. The event is free and will be followed by a gold coin donation sausage sizzle. Everyone is welcome! NB. Check the club's Facebook page as times could change due to the weather.
Wooroolin Line Dancers

Wheelchair Basketball - Murgon
South Burnett Blasters Wheelchair Basketball will be played today from 10:00am to noon at the South Burnett PCYC in Macalister Street, Murgon. The Suncoast Spinners are a social sports club which caters for both physically disabled and able-bodied wheelchair basketball players. Participants don't need to use a wheelchair every day to play! All equipment is provided but players must wear enclosed shoes and bring a water bottle. Wheelchair basketball is an all-abilities game and everyone is invited to come along and have a go! It is held at the PCYC every fortnight during school terms.
Saturday Library Day - Maidenwell
- The volunteers from the Maidenwell QCWA will be supervising the regular weekly Saturday Library Day (featuring books loaned from Kingaroy Library) from 2:00pm to 4:00pm this afternoon. A library day is held in the Maidenwell Hall in Pool Street every Wednesday and Saturday.
Go Getta Girls - Kingaroy

Senior Soccer - Kingaroy
Kingaroy Senior Soccer Club will be hosting two games from the Darling Downs Community competition at their grounds at Tom Alford Oval in Oliver Bond Street, Kingaroy, this evening. This is the club's first double-header of the season! The Kingaroy Division 2 side will take on the Chinchilla Grizzlies at 5:00pm; followed by the Kingaroy Division 1 side facing Dalby at 7:00pm. The canteen will be open with hot food and cold drinks. Spectators are urged to come along and support the local team in action!
Back To Nanango Reunion Dance - Booie
- CANCELLED A dance will be held at Booie Hall, 1226 Booie Road, from 7:30pm tonight to coincide with the Back To Nanango Reunion. Music will be supplied by Mystique. Dancing will be a mix of Old Time and New Vogue. Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for high school students (under 12s free). Everyone is welcome and there is also free camping available!
