South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Dinner Under The Stars - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Men's Shed will be hosting their annual Dinner Under The Stars from 3:00pm until late tonight. The event is a fundraiser for the LifeFlight Foundation. Guests can enjoy a fun night out that will include a two-course camp oven-style dinner catered by The Baitlayers, a licensed bar, live music from The Ground Crew, Natalie Fenton and Alice Benfer. There'll also be games for the kids, a sponsors' auction and raffles. Tickets are $53.50 per head for adults, $27.50 for young people aged 5-11 or $21.50 for entertainment only (under 5s are free). Tickets can be obtained from Kingaroy Office Central by phoning (07) 4162-1941, or purchased online. Note: If you're attending please BYO chairs, a blanket or a small table.
Wooroolin Country Music Campout
Today is final day of the three-day Country Music Campout at Wooroolin Memorial Hall on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin. The event features non-stop walk-up artists and bush poets, and everyone is welcome! Today's activities will get under way about 9:00am and include a big Variety Concert from 6:30pm this evening. Admission is just $15 per day or $40 for a three-day pass (which includes all activities over the three days). Cost to attend the Variety Concert only is $10. This is a cash-only event. NB. Rugby League - Kingaroy
There's a big day of rugby league happening today at T.J. O'Neill Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy. From 8:00am to 2:00pm, the Matt Ballin South Burnett Cluster Day will be held for Under 7s, Under 9s and Under 11s. Then, in the evening pre-season senior trial games will be held! At 4:00pm, the Kingaroy Red Ants will take on the Dalby Diehards Reserve Grade team; and at 6:00pm, Wynnum-Manly Seagulls A Grade will play Dalby Diehards A Grade. The canteen will be open all day, and the bar will be open from 4:00pm.
Churchyard Op Shop Markets - Nanango
The Anglican Churchyard Op Shop, at the corner of Drayton and Burnett Streets in Nanango, will be open from 7:30am to around 11:30am today. There'll be stalls selling plants, craftwork, books, bric-a-brac and lots more, as well as a $3 sausage sizzle and tea and coffee for a gold coin donation. Wondai Country Markets
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery's Wondai Country Markets - held on the fourth Saturday of every month - will be operating at Coronation Park in Wondai's CBD from 7:00am to about noon this morning. The markets feature stallholders selling fresh fruit and vegetables, arts and crafts, useful knick-knacks and clothing. There'll also be live entertainment; lots of other stalls selling great gifts and goodies; and special hand-made treasures from local artisans. The BBQs will also be firing up from around 6:45am to dish out hearty breakfasts for early bargain hunters. Garage Sale - Murgon
A two-day garage sale to raise funds for the Queensland Dairy & Heritage Museum in Murgon will be held today and tomorrow at 15 Rewald Street, Murgon. There'll be household items, furniture and much more. The sale will run today from 7:00am to 3:30pm.
Yarraman Holistic Markets
The Yarraman Holistic Markets will be held from 8:00am to noon today at the Yarraman Men's Shed in Mill Street, Yarraman. The markets are held on last Saturday of every month (except December) and include local products and produce. More info? Phone Bianca 0447-343-641.
Bell Show & Rodeo
The first day of the weekend-long 68th Bell Show and Rodeo will be held at Bell Showgrounds on the corner of Wallace and Maxwell Streets in Bell from 8:00am this morning through until midnight. As well as all the usual fun of the fair, highlights today include the lolly drop for kids, a vintage machinery display, duck races, a petting zoo and fireworks. The Bull Ride will roar into action about 6:00pm. Admission to today's Show is $15 per head for adults - young people aged 15 and below are admitted free. NB. Entry to tomorrow's Bell Campdraft is free!
Tagatoga - Boondooma Dam
The Kingaroy Sportsfishing Club is holding its annual "Tagatoga" weekend at Boondooma Dam this weekend. Australian National Sportsfishing Association club members will be collecting data on the Southern Saratoga in Lake Boondooma.
Nanango Book Fair
A book fair, with items starting at just $1.00, will be held from 10:00am this morning at Tara's Hall, 24-26 Henry Street, Nanango.
South Burnett Cricket
Murgon Cricket Club will be hosting a big Pink Stumps Day today at Murgon Showgrounds. At 8:00am, a Stage 3 game between Murgon and Kingaroy will be played as well as Stage 2 matches between Murgon and Nanango Scorpions Yellow; and Kingaroy Cobras and Nanango Scorpions Purple. At 12:30pm, Murgon Diggers will take on Saints in the South Burnett competition and Murgon Crusaders will continue Day 2 of their game against Gympie Royals in the Gympie A Grade competition. At other venues, a Stage 1 game between Kumbia Rattlers and Kingaroy Kangaroos will be played at Kumbia Sportsground at 8:00am. Other South Burnett senior games, from 12:30pm, are Wondai Wolves v Kingaroy Services at Wondai Cricket Ground; and Nanango Scorpions v Wooroolin Warriors at Alan Downie Sports Fields, Nanango. Day 2 of the Gympie A Grade between Wooroolin Warriors and Gympie Colts will also be played at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy from 12:30pm.
Come & Try Clay Target Day - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Clay Target Club is holding a come & try day from 1:00pm this afternoon at the range on Aerodrome Road, Kingaroy. All ages from 11 upwards (and all experience levels) are welcome! Cost is $50 per person. All equipment will be provided and qualified coaches will be on hand. Participants should wear closed-in shoes and bring along photo ID. More info? Come & Try Dragon Boating - BP Dam
The Barambah Dragons dragon boat club invites people to try out the ancient Chinese sport of dragon boat racing at Bjelke-Petersen Dam from 9:00am (for a 9:30am paddle-off) on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. Paddles and gear will be supplied but participants should wear closed shoes that can tolerate getting wet and bring along sunscreen, water, a towel and warm clothes for afterwards. The event is free and will be followed by a gold coin donation sausage sizzle. Everyone is welcome! NB. Check the club's Facebook page as times could change due to the weather.
Wooroolin Line Dancers
The Wooroolin Line Dancers will be holding line dancing classes at Wooroolin Hall on the Bunya Highway from 9:00am to 10:00am this morning (for absolute beginners and beginners) and 10:00am to 12:30pm (for intermediate dancers). Course fees are $10. More info? Phone Paula 0498-210-073.
Wheelchair Basketball - Murgon
South Burnett Blasters Wheelchair Basketball will be played today from 10:00am to noon at the South Burnett PCYC in Macalister Street, Murgon. The Suncoast Spinners are a social sports club which caters for both physically disabled and able-bodied wheelchair basketball players. Participants don't need to use a wheelchair every day to play! All equipment is provided but players must wear enclosed shoes and bring a water bottle. Wheelchair basketball is an all-abilities game and everyone is invited to come along and have a go! It is held at the PCYC every fortnight during school terms.
Crafty Chat & Create - Blackbutt
Jacki hosts a community Crafty, Chat & Create morning from 9:00am on the fourth Saturday of every month at the Blackbutt RSL club on the corner of Muir and Douglas streets, Blackbutt. Everyone is welcome and bring along your current project!
Jaydin Shingleton - Linville
2025The Voice singer Jaydin Shingleton will be performing at the Linville Hotel in George Street, Linville from 4:00pm this afternoon. Pig On The Spit Night - Maidenwell
The Maidenwell Hotel's popular monthly Pig On A Spit Night will be running from 6:00pm until late this evening with live music by Pete Cullen and Sallyanna7 from 7:30pm. Guests can get stuck into more pork than they can poke a fork at, all served up with with roast potatoes, vegies and gravy. There's also free camping nearby if you want to stay over.
