The Burrandowan Picnic Race Club will be holding its 101st Race Meeting at the Burrandowan Racecourse, 66km west of Kingaroy, on Saturday (May 6).

Crowds have been gathering at Burrandowan on the second Saturday in May since 1922 to take in the atmosphere of a bush picnic race meeting.

Unfortunately, last year’s meeting was washed out after Race 1 but that didn’t stop the throng of racegoers from having a great time.

Organisers are hoping for another bumper turnout on Saturday.

Buses will be running from Kingaroy at 11:00am, 1:00pm and 3:00pm (book with Pursers Coaches).

Camping is available at the track for Saturday night.

Racing begins at 1:30pm and there’s a five-race card.

After the last race is run, the course’s pit-fired barbecue will light up and there’ll be live entertainment until late into the night.

Patrons are reminded there are no ATMs and no mobile coverage at the track, so they should bring cash.

Entry to this year’s meeting is $25 per head (plus booking fee) and tickets can be booked online.
