Queensland will close its border to residents from Greater Melbourne from 1:00am on Saturday.

This follows the snap decision by Victoria to impose a five-day lockdown throughout the State from 11:59pm on Friday until 11:59pm next Wednesday.

Stay-at-home orders will be reintroduced in Victoria and a 5km travel limit enacted.

“We recognise that closing the borders is difficult for everybody,” Queensland Acting Chief Health Officer Sonya Bennett said.

The Queensland decision will be reviewed in 14 days.
