The LNP is a “strong and united party”, Opposition Leader and Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington reaffirmed on Tuesday morning.

Mrs Frecklington, who will be leading the LNP into a State Election in Queensland in October, was speaking after the Federal party room vote in Canberra in which Michael McCormack retained his role as Federal National Party Leader, defeating backbencher Barnaby Joyce in a spill vote.

“The LNP is a strong and united party and we’re focused on building the New Bradfield Scheme and a strong Queensland economy,’” Mrs Frecklington told southburnett.com.au.

“The LNP plan for Queensland will create well-paid local jobs, improve education standards and reduce hospital waiting lists.”

Mr Joyce, speaking on ABC Radio ahead of the spill vote, pushed a stronger National Party identity for Federal MPs.

“Making sure that what we deliver is seen in our own voice, as a National Party voice, not as a pale imitation of another party. We have to be proud enough to stand behind our own name and fight first and foremost as National Party members,” he told interviewer Fran Kelly.
