Kingaroy Police after investigating the theft of a “tips jar” full of coins from a Kingaroy cafe after photos of the alleged thieves were published on social media.

The owner of the business published the photos of a man and a woman on her Facebook page on Tuesday asking if anyone recognised the couple:

“Anyone on my friends list know these people? If you do, could you kindly ask them to return my tips jar they stole from the diner on Friday morning. That jar has sat on my counter for 10 months and hasn’t been touched until now. If I don’t hear from them before 10:00am tomorrow I will be notifying the police and they can deal with them!”

The post quickly drew a reaction with names being published.

The original post was shared more than 100 times, and a copy on a “name and shame” community page shared more than 220 times.

The business owner has now made a formal complaint to police.
