Southern Queensland Country Tourism believes there is strength in numbers, and has put out a call for local tourism operators to join the organisation.

SQCT Chief Executive Officer Mary-Clare Power said tourism operators across the region need to band together to grow the sector.

The call follows the decision by the South Burnett Regional Council last year to withdraw its financial support from the organisation, although several individual operators in the region remained members.

“SQCT has big plans to take tourism even further in 2018 but we are always louder when we speak with one voice as the region’s peak tourism organisation,” Ms Power said.

She said the organisation had put together a one-off “Taste-Tester Partnership” membership package to encourage new members to sign up.

The offer, which expires on February 28, includes membership until June 30, a subscription to the Australian Tourist Data Warehouse (ATDW) and the opportunity to be included in SQCT marketing and promotional campaigns.

“The Taste-Tester Partnership does not include the full range of benefits that our annual subscribers enjoy, but it is designed to enable local operators to sample what’s on offer and to enjoy the greater buying power that comes with being part of SQCT,” Ms Power said.

She said existing SQCT partners who referred a friend to the regional tourism organisation had the chance to feature in the Southern Queensland Country Club enewsletter, distributed to 32,000 subscribers.
