Six extra Airnorth flights a week between Melbourne and Wellcamp Airport will begin on May 8.

And the company will boost this to another two weekly services in June.

Airnorth CEO Daniel Bowden said the new services were designed with Melbourne’s business customers in mind.

“Many business travellers need same day or overnight flight options and were keen to take advantage of Airnorth’s faster non-stop jet service,” he said.

“This will give Melbourne originating customers the opportunity to complete same-day travel trips to and from Wellcamp Airport every day.

“Since launching our services to Wellcamp Airport in March 2016 our customers have been delighted with the reliability, the on-board catering and the overall comfort of our 76-seat Embraer E170 jet.”

Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport commercial manager Sara Hales said the Toowoomba and the Darling Downs communities had been very supportive of Airnorth and would welcome the extra services to the region.

In addition to the new Melbourne services, Airnorth will also add new seasonal winter direct flights between Toowoomba and Cairns and Toowoomba and Townsville.

From June, Airnorth will be operating 38 flights a week in and out of Wellcamp Airport.
