December 19, 2016

Struggling South Burnett families will be a little bit better off this Christmas, thanks to a charity lunch hosted by South Burnett Mayor Keith Campbell in Kingaroy on Friday.

The lunch, which attracted 208 people, raised more than $5000 for charity.

Mayor Campbell explained that the cash would be converted to $50 SupaIGA shopping vouchers and given to local charities such as the Salvation Army and Centacare to distribute.

This was the third annual Mayor’s Charity Christmas Lunch to be held in Kingaroy, but the first to be hosted by Mayor Campbell.

The diners enjoyed a Christmas dinner and dessert prepared by CWA volunteers from branches across the South Burnett.

Guest speaker was Member for Maranoa David Littleproud who was elected to the Federal seat earlier this year.

Mayor Campbell also announced the winners of the Hancock Prospecting 2016 Christmas Lights competition (see below).
