Long-time Endeavour Bingo organiser Paula Greenwood … Kingaroy RSL will take over running the Friday morning bingo games after the Endeavour Foundation decided to pull out

March 3, 2016

The Endeavour Foundation will close down all its bingo operations in Queensland by the end of March, including its popular Friday morning bingo in Kingaroy.

Andrew Thomas, Endeavour’s Executive General Manager for Supporter Enterprises, made the announcement in an email earlier this week.

“It is with regret that I advise that Endeavour Foundation will cease its Bingo operations by the end of March,” Mr Thomas said.

“Endeavour Foundation Bingo has been a long-standing component of our fundraising activities in Queensland.

“Our games in Rockhampton have been running since the early 1970s … (and) Endeavour Foundation Bingo has also operated in Logan Central and Beaudesert, Caloundra, Bundaberg, Maryborough, Hervey Bay, Bowen, Mackay, Kingaroy and Pine Rivers.”

Mr Thomas said while Endeavour appreciated the community support it had received, particularly in regional Queensland, it was felt bingo games were no longer a viable fundraising activity.

“I’d like to recognise the many promoters, other staff and volunteers who have contributed to Endeavour Foundation Bingo over the years,” Mr Thomas said.

“The last game day for Endeavour Foundation Bingo will be Thursday. March 24.”

Today local Endeavour Bingo operator Paula Greenwood said she was disappointed by the decision, but fans of the Friday morning bingo games held at Kingaroy RSL shouldn’t despair.

Mrs Greenwood said the RSL will take over the bingo games at the end of the month.

“The same people who’ve been running them for years will still be running things, so it should be pretty much business as usual,” Mrs Greenwood said.

“And the RSL will distribute any profits to local good causes, so the community will still benefit.”
