South Burnett And Cherbourg On ShowSeptember 30, 2015

Nanango is the oldest town in the South Burnett – 172 years old, in fact – and it boasts a rare treasure.

It’s called Ringsfield House. And during this year’s South Burnett-Cherbourg On Show long weekend, Ringsfield will be holding an Open Day to let visitors explore this wonderfully restored 1908 Queenslander, which was developed by renowned Queensland architect Robin Dods.

Guests will be able to bask in Ringsfield’s magnificent turn-of-the-century architecture, take a free tour of the building and explore its rare historical collections.

Or they can stroll through Ringsfield’s beautiful gardens (which were designed in 1993 by landscape architect Jeremy Ferrier) to inspect several other local historic buildings that have been moved to Ringsfield’s extensive grounds.

In the last year Ringsfield has also opened a cafe, where guests can dine on anything from a Devonshire Tea through to freshly-prepared enchiladas, all expertly prepared by caterer Judy Crawford and the cafe’s friendly staff.

Ringsfield is cared for by members of the Nanango Historical Society.

It’s a popular local venue for weddings and functions, but it also draws thousands of visitors every year who come to marvel at its classical elegance.

Bookings for individual visitors to the Open Day aren’t necessary, but if you’re bringing a large group with you they’d be appreciated.

They can be made by phoning Ringsfield House on (07) 4163-3345 between 10:00am and 2:00pm Mondays to Fridays, or by emailing them.
