The latest developments with the Burnett Mary NRM and Climate Adapatation Plan; the National Landcare Program; and what’s happening with Grazing BMP will be up for discussion in Wondai on Thursday, August 27.

The Burnett Mary Regional Group – the peak body for natural resource management in the South and North Burnett and the Mary River catchment area – will be holding a community meeting at the group’s South Burnett office at 32 Bramston Street in Wondai from 10:00am to 12:30pm.

BMRG want to meet with as many regional stakeholders, land managers and local government representatives as possible.

The aim of the meeting is to update community representatives about BMRG’s current activities.

These include the start of a consultation phase for the draft Burnett Mary NRM and Climate Adaptation Plan which will provide a framework for investment in, and the management of, local natural resources into a future where climate variability and change is projected.

Information will also be available on the Australian government’s National Landcare Program, and the rollout of Grazing BMP in the region.

A lunch will be provided at 12:30pm.

After this, attendees will have the option of joining BMRG’s Board on a tour of the Bunya Mountains to highlight the work the Bunya Mountains Murri Rangers have been doing to reintroduce indigenous values by re-establishing the area’s unique grassland balds and implementing traditional fire management practices.

The meeting – and the lunch that follows it – are free, but to assist with catering an RSVP would be greatly appreciated.

RSVP’s can be made by phoning Vikki Evans on (07) 4169-0720 or by emailing her.
