Construction will begin next week on the centre island for the new Drayton / Fitzroy street roundabout in Nanango.

A South Burnett Regional Council spokesperson said for safety reasons, there would be changes to traffic conditions in the area during working hours.

Barricades will restrict through-traffic in Fitzroy Street across the Drayton Street intersection.

However, through-traffic in Drayton Street should not be affected.

Left turns out of Drayton Street into Fitzroy Street will still be possible, as will left turns into Drayton Street from Fitzroy Street.

After working hours, the barricades will be removed and the intersection will be used as a typical roundabout.
