South Burnett vintage machinery enthusiasts have been invited to take a trip to Bowenville next month.

The Downs Vintage Machinery Club will be staging their annual Plough In Field Day on Saturday, August 15 at John and Jeanette Kummerow’s “Quarrianne” property at 1216 Jondaryan-St Ruth Road in Bowenville.

“The tractors in the field will represent a veritable roll call of local farming history with old single cylinder models such as Lanz Bulldogs, Fowlers and Field Marshalls,” club president David Cleary said

“They’ll be lining up beside the more modern machines including the marques of Fordson, Ferguson, John Deere, Chamberlain and Case.”

Up to a dozen drivers at a time will spread out across a long paddock pulling a variety of implements including mouldboard ploughs, sundercuts, scarifiers and combines.

Some restored and rare tractors will be on display, as well as vintage cars.

The event will also include earthmoving and a variety of novelty tractor events.

Anyone with a pre-occupation for old machinery is guaranteed an informative and entertaining day which will provide plenty of opportunity for catching up with fellow enthusiasts.

The day will kick off at 9:00 am with a safety briefing.

The public is welcome and entry is by gold coin.

The facilities are top class, refreshments will be available throughout the day and there will be musical entertainment during the lunch break.
