La Creme’s dancers took the audience on a journey to the Emerald City

December 11, 2014

Nanango was temporarily transformed into the Emerald City last Saturday to allow dance fans to visit the wonderful world of Oz.

The second half of the La Creme Dance Academy’s annual concert at the Nanango State High School auditorium featured music from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “The Wizard Of Oz”.

Organiser Ashleigh Hatchman, who has been running the academy since August last year, said the 100 performers on stage were aged from 2 to 65, and came from Blackbutt to Wondai.

Heading the cast were Viola Pink (Dorothy), Chelsea Bowden (Toto), Belle Flanigan (Scarecrow), Jessica McNamara (Tinman), Keeley Flood (Lion) and Tatyana Hinchliff (the Wicked Witch).

The performance featured different dancing styles – including ballet, hip hop and tap – plus dialogue and miming.

This is the second end-of-year concert organised by Ashleigh.
