A 22-year-old Nanango woman is recovering after being punched in the head by an unknown assailant in Nanango on Saturday night.

Nanango Police Officer-in-Charge Sergeant Jason Newton said the woman was walking in the vicinity of Normanby and Grey streets between 8:00pm-9:00pm when she was grabbed and threatened.

The woman told police she fought back and managed to break free.

As she went to get help, the man ran off.

The man is described as 178cm tall, of scrawny build with a husky voice, wearing a dark hoodie, dark pants and white-soled shoes.

No one was injured when a ute crashed on the D’Aguilar Highway near Nanango on Sunday afternoon.

Sgt Newton said police believe the vehicle was overloaded.

“They were very, very lucky to escape injury,” he said.
