Five local groups have secured grants through the latest round of the State Government’s Caring for our Community program.

The successful applicants are the:

  • Blackbutt Show Society – $14,775
  • Blackbutt & Benarkin Community Council – $4994
  • Boots n’ Bulldust – $5000
  • Wesleyan Church Café, Nanango – $5000
  • St John’s Ambulance Kingaroy – $3310
Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington said it was terrific that hard-working local community groups would benefit from the funding which will help them purchase essential items and equipment.

“Well done to our local groups who’ve been successful with their grant applications. This will be a great boost to help them achieve important projects for the people they help,” Mrs Frecklington said.

“The Caring for our Community grants are part of our government’s election promise to revitalise frontline services, and around Queensland, groups are sharing in more than $1.5 million through this latest round,” she said.

“Community and volunteer organisations are the backbone of small rural districts, so it’s important that we support them in their efforts to help local residents,” Deb said.
