Flashback to 2013 … a touch of Hollywood comes to Nanango every year with the Big Screen Festival

April 10, 2014

Heritage Nanango Community Branch announced today they will be sponsoring the upcoming Big Screen Film Festival in Nanango – the fourth year they have backed the event.

The Big Screen Festival will begin on Friday, May 16, at the Nanango Cultural Centre.

“We are very much looking forward to the 2014 Big Screen Film Festival and are excited to see who the special festival guest will be this year,” Heritage Nanango Community Funding Ltd chairwoman Wendy Zerbst said.

“This will be our fourth consecutive year of sponsorship and we will have contributed close to $25,000 since 2011 to ensure this event is of the highest possible quality.

“The popularity of last year’s Big Screen Film Festival with Magda Szubanski exceeded all expectations, and we are confident that it can be even better this time around.

“We are especially excited to be involved with the drought relief gala fundraising evening on Saturday evening. We encourage everyone to come early for some backyard cricket fun for this worthy cause.”

Over the past 2½ years, Heritage Nanango Community Funding Ltd has provided grants and sponsorship of more than $60,000 to the arts in the South Burnett.

Organisations which have benefited include the Big Screen Film Festival, the Nanango Mardi Gras Art Festival and Mural competition, the Nanango Theatre Company, Nanango & District Camera Club, the South Burnett Community Orchestra, singing groups, and other various Nanango arts organisations.
