Veterans march proudly in the Wondai Anzac Day parade

Wondai’s Anzac Day commemorations began with the traditional dawn service at 5:00am which attracted a crowd of more than 200 people.

Residents then visited war service graces at Wondai Cemetery before returning to town for the procession and commemoration serice at 10:00am.

Wondai RSL Sub-Branch president Neil Burrows moved the resolutions and read the Honour Roll.

Guest speaker was South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann, who was due to leave on Sunday for Europe to take part in a special commemoration service in the Netherlands for former Murgon resident Patrick Tiernan, killed during World War II.

Wreaths were then laid on the Memorial and the Last Post was played by Lucy Jacobsen.
