Well-known former South Burnett residents Bryan and Eunice Heading celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary recently with friends and family on the Darling Downs.

Bryan, 88, was born in Murgon into a well-known local family.

He was secretary of the Peanut Marketing Board (now PCA) in Kingaroy and ran a plant nursery in Fitzroy Street.

Eunice, 86, was born in Cleveland in Brisbane and grew up in Bulimba.

She met her future husband in Kingaroy when she came up to visit family during a holiday break.

The couple was married at the Albert Street Methodist Church in Brisbane on April 16, 1949.

Eunice later became a champion Queensland lawn bowler.

The couple, who have three children, nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, retired to Cabarlah.

They marked their wedding anniversary with a family get-together last Saturday (April 19) at the Gordon Country campsite near Allora.
