Telstra has switched on 4G LTE mobile coverage in the Nanango area which should mean faster downloads for customers with the right mobile phones.

A Telstra spokesman said today typical download speeds would be between 2 and 50 Mb/second. However, actual customer speeds may vary depending on a range of factors including distance from the base station, local conditions, and the user’s device.

Telstra Country Wide Area General Manager for Southern Queensland May Boisen said the new 4G coverage would give locals in Nanango mobile broadband speeds as fast as those in capital cities.

“Our 4G network coverage area is now four times that of any competitor,” she said.

“The additional speeds and network capacity Telstra 4G offers will really support both residents and local businesses in this area.

“The addition of 4G also benefits our 3G only customers as 3G network capacity is freed up as customers migrate their data traffic onto our 4G service.”
