South Burnett builders and contractors had the opportunity this afternoon to get an update about the latest regulatory changes in the construction industry, directly from the MP responsible.

Housing and Public Works Minister Tim Mander met with industry representatives in an information session at the Nanango Cultural Centre.

Mr Mander is also responsible for the State Government’s capital works program and it was an opportunity for local businesses to learn more about the government’s procurement processes.

He told southburnett.com.au the State Government was stimulating the construction industry by reducing red tape.

There had also been changes in procurement policies which would be better for local businesses.

Mr Mander said another important reason for the meeting was that the government wanted to listen to local people so that there could be better engagement with local contractors.
