Drinkers beware … police across the South Burnett will be taking part in an integrated Australia / New Zealand-wide blitz against alcohol-fuelled violence this weekend as part of a special crackdown dubbed “Operation Unite” .

Officer-in-Charge of Kingaroy Police Senior Sergeant Duane Frank said the blitz would run from Friday to Sunday.

“Police will be out and about and raising awareness about the dangers of binge drinking,” he said.

Snr Sgt Frank said there would be a highly visible police presence across the South Burnett.

He said police will not tolerate alcohol-fuelled violence on our streets.

Snr Sgt Frank warned against the dangers of binge drinking which could lead to fights, brawls, injuries and worse.

“We ask people to drink responsibly, drink safely and watch out for their mates,” Snr Sgt Frank said.

This is the fourth year that Operation Unite has run across Australia and New Zealand.
