Thieves have targeted Nanango’s historic Ringsfield House in recent weeks, stealing paint and other items.

Nanango Historical Society President Roslyn Gregor said a large gas bottle, which was connected to the kitchen, had been disconnected and removed during the night a few weeks ago.

Then last week two 20 litre tins of Manor Red roof paint – worth about $400 – had been taken overnight.

Ms Gregor asked that anyone who was offered cheap roof paint report it to police.

“Over the last few months we have had whole shrubs pulled out of the garden, and in the past large pot plants have been taken from the front verandah,” she said.

She said the thefts were very disheartening.

“We are all volunteers and we work very hard to keep the place going, and then this happens,” she said.
