Firefighters hose down the burned out timber building this morning

Fire badly damaged a timber house at Hivesville in the early hours of this morning.

Fire fighters were called when smoke was seen issuing from the building about 4:20am.

An emergency services spokeswoman said seven fire crews attended, both urban and rural brigades.

The fire was under control by 5:15pm with crews left on site to dampen down the smouldering remains.

Proston police attended the scene.

Investigations into the cause of the blaze are continuing.
