Drivers in the South Burnett will soon see an increase in road works over the next few weeks with council ramping up projects throughout the region.

“Council is very aware of the amount of work that needs to be done throughout the region to get our roads ‘up to scratch’ after this year’s flood events,” Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said today.

“Our roads team has put together an impressive list of the number of roads that need to have work done to them over the next few months.”

Some of the programmed road works include:

  • Construction of a passing lane on the D’Aguilar Highway at Coolabunia
  • Construction of a block wall on the Bunya Mountains Road at Maidenwell
  • Pavement and drainage on T H Burns Road, Wondai
  • Replacement of a bridge with culverts on Thompson Street, Murgon
  • Corner realignment on Memerambi Barkers Creek Road
  • Pavement and Drainage on Crumpton Drive, Blackbutt
  • Culverts on Gleneriffe Road, Nanango
  • Culverts and inverts on Kumbia Brooklands Road
  • Culverts and inverts on Alice Creek Road, Kingaroy
  • Culverts and inverts on Gayndah Hivesville Road
  • Pavement and drainage on Radunzs Road, Kingaroy
  • Pavement and drainage on Whitaker Road, Nanango
  • Form drain on Jones Street, Wondai
  • Culverts and inverts on Manar Road, Wondai
  • Patching and pavement repairs for reseal preparations across the region

Road spokesman Cr Damien Tessmann said that obviously not all roads could be fixed overnight.

“H however the roads team does have a plan and is diligently working their way through the priorities,” he said.

“The work is scheduled based on severity and taking into account what will be the most efficient and cost effective way to complete the necessary works.”
