New Community Liaison Officer Caley Quinn is introduced to the Yarraman community by current CLO Bronwyn Holland

June 28, 2013

An afternoon tea was held in Yarraman on Thursday to allow local residents to meet their new Community Liaison Officer, Ms Caley Quinn, who has been appointed by the Toowoomba Regional Council.

Ms Quinn will be based at the library in Yarraman for two days per week; the other three days she will work out of Crows Nest.

The plan is that she will work closely with community organisations in the area and be the first “point of contact” for local residents.

She will also support councillors in their community engagement activities and assist in co-ordinating and administrating Council’s Community Support Program.

Representatives from a number of Yarraman groups attended the afternoon tea at the Community Hall, including committee members from Heritage House, Colours of Yarraman, Wild Horse FM, Yarraman Memorial Hall Committee, Brisbane Valley Heritage Trails, Yarraman Over 50s and the Driver Reviver program.

Current Community Liaison Officer Bronwyn Holland has been working with the local community – and the rest of the former Rosalie Shire – since before council amalgamation.

She will continue to work with other former Rosalie towns in the Toowoomba region, including Goombungee, Gowrie Junction and Kingsthorpe.

Ms Quinn grew up on a farm at Grantham in the Lockyer Valley.

After completing a Masters in Social Work, she worked in Brisbane for a number of years before country life called her back home.

After the devastating 2011 floods, Toowoomba Regional Council appointed her as the Lockyer Valley Region Council Case Manager and Project Officer during the recovery at Grantham.

She assisted in the “land swap” program which led to many residents relocating to higher ground.

Ms Quinn will be at Yarraman Library from 9:00am to 5:00pm on Wednesdays and Fridays.

A new counter / reception area has been installed for her to use.

The appointment of a Community Liaison Officer for Yarraman was promised by Toowoomba Mayor Paul Antonio at a community consultation meeting held in Yarraman on March 13.
