St John’s instrumental ensemble members Lize Potgieter, Laura Tessman and Jennifer Reilly

May 15, 2013

The results of the 2013 Kingaroy Eisteddfod are out … and there’s a lot of happy entrants around!

Amongst those smiling are students from St John’s Lutheran school whose hard work paid off with excellent results for the school choirs and band which won in each of the divisions they entered.

School music teacher Lynette Kersnovski praised their performances on the day and their hard work in the lead-up to the competition.

St John’s entered two choirs: the Year 4-5 combined choir is made up of every child in these four classes. They won first place in the nominated sections of Own Choice, Folk Song and Song in Language Other Than English. They also competed in the Sacred section and achieved a third.

The Senior choir is made up of Year 6-7 students who wish to participate in this extra-curricular activity. They won the Sacred song section and also achieved second places in three other sections: Own Choice, Songs Other Than English and Folk Song.

The St John’s instrumental ensemble performed performed three songs: “The Flintstones Meet The Jetsons”, “Snow Globe” and “Fighting Falcon March” and won their section against other local schools.

Mrs Kersnvoski said the band members exceeded her expectations on the day.

“Members of the audience were certainly treated to a marvellous morning of entertainment from all the local schools” she said.
