South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Mini Mods Carnival - Wondai
The Wondai-Proston wolves will be hosting their annual Mini Mods carnival at Wondai Sportsground today. Teams from Under 6s through to Under 12s will be playing short, round-robin games with modified rules across nine fields. First games get under way at 7:00am. All South Burnett clubs will be fielding teams which will be competing against visiting clubs from across the Central Burnett, Sunshine Coast, Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, Gympie, Childers, Maryborough, Burpengary and Brisbane. A canteen will be running all day. A total of 223 games have been organised!
Kingaroy Men's Shed
The Kingaroy Men's Shed will be holding their regular Saturday morning meeting at the old Motor Pool building off Geoff Raph Drive at Kingaroy Airport from 9:00am to around noon today. The group meet every Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday morning and new members and visitors are always welcome.
Proston Community Markets
The monthly Proston Community Markets - organised by the Proston Show Society and held on the 3rd Saturday of each month - will be running outside the QCWA Rooms at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston from 8:00am to around noon this morning. Stalls feature everything from craftwork to baked goods and bric-a-brac are are always fun to browse. There'll also be a great BBQ breakfast and Devonshire morning teas available, as well as a large fruit and veggie tray raffle. Australian Rules - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Saints will be in action at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy today, celebrating their annual Heritage Day. The day, which honours the South Burnett’s AFL roots, is also a fundraiser this year for the club's new changerooms. Games against the Toowoomba Tigers start at 11:00am (under 14s), 12:45pm (women) and 2:30pm (men). Entertainment will go into the evening, with live music by local band Mr Q from 5:00pm.
Byte Nite - Murgon
The South Burnett PCYC at 40 Macalister Street, Murgon will be holding a free Byte Night of fun and games for 12 to 18-year-olds between 6:00pm and 9:00pm this evening. Activities include a free dance party, games and food, and all young Murgon and Cherbourg youngsters are very welcome! More details? Phone the PCYC on (07) 4168-1889.
Proston Men's Shed
The Proston Men's Shed will be meeting at their building at 5-23 Rodney Street, Proston from 9:00am until around 12:00 noon today. The Men's Shed is open every day (except Sundays) and new members are always very welcome! More details? Phone the Men's Shed on 0477-235-429
Come And Try Futsal - Kingaroy
Girls aged 12 and over have been invited by the South Burnett Futsal Club to try the indoor football game from noon to 2:00pm today at St Mary's Catholic College sports hall, 10 Kent Street, Kingaroy. The come-and-try day is totally free! This is the first of three come-and-try days this week organised at the college by the South Burnett Futsal Club.
Moore Hall Markets
The monthly Moore Markets will be held outside the Moore Soldiers Memorial Hall off the D'Aguilar Highway in Moore from 7:00am to around 12:00 noon today. The markets are held on the 3rd Saturday of every month and feature hand painted china; hand made jewellery; hand crafted dolls; quilts; biscuit tin banjos; jade; wooden toys; delightful handmade bags; plants; bric-a-brac; antiques and collectables; tea cosies; baby clothes; tea towels; candles; soaps; cakes; jams and pickles, and more. There's also great brekkies available inside the Hall, and everyone is welcome!
Nanango Men's Shed
The Nanango Men's Shed at the corner of Mt Stanley Road and Heathermore Lane, Nanango will be open from 8:30am to around 12:30pm today for its regular Saturday get-together. 30th Anniversary Show Weekend - Nanango
The South Burnett Western Performance Club will be running the first day of their weekend-long 30th Anniversary Show Weekend at their grounds in Racecourse Road, Nanango from 8:30am this morning through until late afternoon. Today's show will feature two judges and a bar and canteen will be available on site, along with camping facilities if you want to stay over. Admission is free for spectators and everyone is welcome.
Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Kingaroy Friendship Markets
The third Saturday of the month Friendship Markets will be held at Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy from 7:00am to around 12:00pm today. The markets are run by the Kingaroy Show Society and feature a range of arts, crafts, food stalls, fruit and garden stalls, plus unusual bric-a-brac. New stallholders are always very welcome.
Saturday Night Bingo - Kilkivan
Bingo games will be played at the Kilkivan Bowls Club in Crescent Street, Kilkivan from 5:00pm tonight (eyes down at 6:00pm). There'll be 10 games on offer with great prizes - including a $650 jackpot - and play books are just $10 each. Food and drinks will also be available for purchase, and there'll be great raffle prizes to win as well. Tonight's games are a fundraiser for the Rise & Shine Aging-In-Place project and everyone is welcome!
Rum 'N' Roses - Kingaroy
Sunshine Coast duo Rum 'N' Roses - aka Ian and Sharon Robertson - will be performing ballads, county rock and rock & roll at the Kingaroy RSL in Markwell Street, Kingaroy from 7:00pm until around 11:00pm tonight. Admission is free. More details from the RSL on (07) 4162-1755.
Yarraman Men's Shed

The Blackbutt parkrun group will be holding its weekly 5km timed walk/run along the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail at Blackbutt from 7:00am this morning. The starting line is adjacent to the Roy Emerson Museum, off Bowman Road. Runners follow a course along the former railway line and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online (it's officially called the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail parkrun) and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event.
Alcoholics Anonymous - Blackbutt
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other to help solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership. AA isn't allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organisation or institution. AA meets in Blackbutt in the small hall next to the church at the corner of Gladys and James streets from 1:30pm to 2:30pm every Saturday, with tea and coffee provided.
