Sharon Lohse ... One Nation candidate for Callide

August 28, 2017

Pauline Hanson’s One Nation party has named the candidate who will now be standing in Callide following the dumping of previous candidate Elise Cottam in February.

Ms Cottam, from Childers, was disendorsed for Callide after a deadline passed for her to pay the party $2400 to help cover the costs of PHON’s State campaign.

The new would-be MP is grazier Sharon Lohse who had previously been pencilled in by One Nation to stand for the seat of Warrego.

Ms Lohse, who has a property in Chinchilla, hit the news in 2004 when she and her husband Rob were told by the State Government their grazing lease south of Biggenden would not be renewed as it was required for a national park.

The family fought the decision in the Supreme Court and won.

The lease was renewed, but only for 20 years and only as a right to graze on a national park.

Ms Lohse has been active with Property Rights Australia for many years which lobbies for “exclusive access, use and the opportunity to profit” from land.

The organisation also aims to provide financial support for legal test cases in property rights disputes.
