The Darling Downs Hospital and Health Service is pleased that more than 2000 people joined in its NAIDOC Week events this month across the health service region.

DDHHS held 23 events including at Toowoomba Hospital, Cherbourg, Goondiwindi, Miles, Kingaroy, Oakey, Wondai, Warwick, Murgon and Millmerran.

Coordinator Indigenous Cultural Practices Rica Lacey said the NAIDOC Week celebrations were very well attended and provided a wonderful atmosphere for hospital staff and the local community.

“Each of our events had a really positive atmosphere and was an important way to demonstrate cultural respect and commitment to improve health outcomes for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the region,” she said.

Ms Lacey said a highlight of the NAIDOC Week celebrations were the awards presented at each health service in the region.
