The 110th Kingaroy Show will be running on Saturday and Sunday, and the South Burnett Show Society are hoping for fine weather and bumper crowds again this year.
This year’s Show will offer families two days of jam-packed entertainment, featuring everything from Stud Beef, Stud Dairy and Poultry competitions through to bulging pavilion displays and perennial favourites like woodchopping, post ripping and chainsaw sculpting.
There’ll be a Truck Show and a Ute Show on Saturday, along with displays covering everything from bee keeping to peanut butter making, and martial arts through to whip-cracking.
There’ll also be V8 tractor pulls on both days, as well as a free entertainment area for children offering face painting, a puppet show, an animal nursery and an inflatable NRL field.
Equestrians can enjoy showjumping in the main ring on Sunday. And bird fanciers can browse their way through a big display of caged birds, courtesy of the Burnett Birdkeeper’s Association.
Visitors who’d like a taste of yesteryear can take advantage of free wagon rides in the grounds, or drop into the QCWA luncheon rooms for some wholesome country cooking.
As usual, there’ll also be a jaw-dropping Sideshow Alley that’s always the biggest in the region, along with the hoped-for return of the giant ferris wheel that proved so popular at the Nanango Show early last month.
This year, the Show will be officially opened by Queensland Opposition Leader Tim Nicholls in the main ring at 1:30pm on Saturday, and this will be followed by the Grand Parade around 1:45pm.
There’ll also be a Giant Fireworks Show at 7:00pm on Saturday that will light up the night sky; and the same day the Kingaroy Speedway will roar into life around 4:00pm in the main ring and run late into the night.
Single day tickets to the 2017 Show are $15 for adults and $10 for young people aged 12-17 on Saturday; and $10 for adults and $8 for 12-17s on Sunday (under-12s are free on both days).
There are no concession rates and no two-day passes, and the Saturday entry fee includes free entry to the Kingaroy Speedway on Saturday night.
There’s also plenty of free parking in the grounds, and there will be free sample bags for the first 600 under-12s through the gate on Saturday and Sunday.
