An 85-year-old Brooklands man was flown to Brisbane by the RACQ LifeFlight helicopter after a single vehicle crash on the D’Aguilar Highway at Hodgeleigh on Friday morning,
The man was the sole occupant of a Toyota Hilux dualcab which left the road, hit a tree and rolled down an embankment about 10:45am.
The vehicle was travelling towards Kingaroy when the incident occurred.
Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, said the man had become trapped inside the vehicle and had to be freed by a QFES team.
Traffic was blocked in both directions on the highway while the man was freed and transferred to the waiting helicopter.
Police investigations into the cause of the crash are continuing but an RACQ LifeFlight spokesperson said the driver may have swerved to avoid a kangaroo.
He is believed to have suffered rib and leg injuries in the crash and was flown to the PA Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
