Kingaroy Junior Motorcycle Club Race Day - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Junior Motorcycle Speedway Club will be holding a Club Day on the main oval of Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy this morning, with racing getting underway at 11:00am. The club is for young motorcycle riders aged 4 to 16 and spectators are very welcome. More details? Phone Tracey on 0407-623-012. Reserve Forces Bowls Day - Wondai
Wondai will be commemorating its 13th Reserve Forces Day tomorrow, and today it will be treating guests who've travelled to Wondai for the event to a Bowls Day at the Wondai Country Club, which will kick off at 10:00am and be followed by a BBQ lunch at 1:00pm. Everyone is welcome!
Mr Q Mega Jam Session - Kingaroy
South Burnett rock legends Mr Q (aka Tony and Gavin Cisneros and Craig Walsh) will be holding a Mega Jam Session at the Commercial Hotel at the corner of Glendon and Haly Streets, Kingaroy from 8:30pm until late tonight. Mr Q will be joined on stage by their best friends in the music scene for what promises to be an extraordinary night of music and fun. Admission is free and everyone's welcome. More details? EOFY Party With Nightshift - Nanango
The Palace Hotel in Drayton Street, Nanango will be holding an End Of Financial Year Party from 7:00pm until late tonight - with live music by Brisvegas blues and rock band Nightshift - as an U.G.L.Y. Pig On A Spit Night - Maidenwell
Maidenwell's historic Maidenwell Hotel will be holding another of their popular monthly Pig On A Spit evenings from 6:00pm until late tonight (dinner is served from 6:00pm to 8:00pm). There'll be live entertainment from keyboard impressario Andrew Higgins and lots of cold beer, along with more pork than you can poke a fork at, all served up with with roast potatoes, pumpkin, corn, peas, carrots, applesauce and gravy for $17 per plate! There'll also be roast beef and spit roasted chicken on the menu for those who prefer a non-pork option, plus a vegetarian option (ie vegies only). Everyone is welcome! More details? Kumbia Country Markets
The second Kumbia Country Markets for 2018 (run by the Kumbia Hall Committee) will be held in Bell Street and the precincts of the Kumbia Hall from 7:00am to 12:00 noon today. The markets feature homemade gifts, fashions, fresh fruit and vegies, plants and crafts and a sausage sizzle will be operating too! The Dynamics - Kingaroy
Popular entertainers The Dynamics will be performing at the Kingaroy RSL in Markwell Street, Kingaroy from 7:00pm until 11:00pm tonight. Admission is free. More details from the RSL on (07) 4162-1755.
Burrandowan Cutting Competition
The second day of the three day Burrandowan Cutting Competition will be held at Burrandowan Racecourse 62km west of Kingaroy today. Today's events will feature a Beginner Horse and Beginner Rider events, followed by a $15,000 Non Pro and a $15,000 Novice event; then Rookies, Non Pro Gelding Stakes and Grass Shoots Cutting events. The three-day competition is being run by the South Queensland Cutting Horse Association and spectators are very welcome.
Sled Dog Weekend - Blackbutt
Members of Sled Dog Racing Queensland will be holding their annual get-together at Forest Road in the Benarkin State Forest this weekend to race sled dogs in preparation for next month's "Red Mile Muster" race (which will also be held at Benarkin). Most SDRQ members will be camping at the Blackbutt Showgrounds over the weekend, and spectators are very welcome to come and watch the dogs train.
Bowls Club Bingo - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Bowls Club at 141 Youngman St, Kingaroy will be running bingo matches from 7:30pm this evening with over $1000 in prizes on offer. More details from the club on (07) 4162-1404
Saturday Soccer - Wondai and Kingaroy
The 12th round of this year's local football competition will be run in Wondai and Kingaroy today. In Wondai, home team Barambah will play Wests at the Wondai soccer fields north of the Wondai Sportsgrounds, with the Women's Division hitting the park at 1:00pm, followed by the Men's Division at 3:00pm. And in Kingaroy, Gunners will play Panthers at Tom Alford Oval at the end of Oliver Bond Street, starting with the Women's Division at 4:00pm, followed by the Men's Division match under lights at 6:00pm. A canteen will be operating at both venues and spectators are most welcome.
Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
South Burnett Rail Trail Day Trip
Noosaville's Outbike Australia will be running a South Burnett Rail Trail Day Trip for cyclists today. The day trip will pick up participants at Noosa, Noosaville and Gympie and will offer three options: an easy ride from Kingaroy to Murgon (45km sealed); a hard ride from Murgon to Kilkivan (45km unsealed); and an extreme 90km ride from Kingaroy to Kilkivan. Bus fares are $120 return from Noosa, and bikes can be hired for $20 if you don't have your own. South Burnett locals are also welcome to take part, and there's $40 rider and bike transfers from Kilkivan to Kingaroy available if you need help getting back home. More details? Men's Saturday Bowls - Yarraman
The Yarraman Bowls Club in Margaret Street, Yarraman will be holding their weekly Men's Lawn Bowls games from 9:30am this morning. New players are always welcome. More details from the club: (07) 4163-8269.
Wondai Parkrun
The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed run at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event. More details? Send an email.
Proston Men's Shed
The Proston Men's Shed will be meeting at the old railway station building at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston for its regular Saturday morning meeting today, kicking off with a cuppa at 9:00am.
