Wondai Country Festival
The first day of the weekend-long Wondai Country Festival will be held in and around Wondai today. Today the festival will kick off at 7:00am and will incorporate markets (see entry below), a Parkrun, a Fun Run, and a McEuen Forest Trail Run. There'll also be a full day of live music in Coronation Park, and in the morning Cilla and Eden from Blue Gum Farm will be performing their new interactive show for children. On Saturday afternoon, the Phil and Chris Coad Family Show will be running at the Wondai RSL, along with afternoon tea. Tomorrow the Festival will conclude with a a 10km Rail Trail run, a half marathon and a full 42km marathon. A more complete entertainment program will be released closer to the Festival, and this entry will be updated when this occurs. Wondai Country Markets
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery's popular monthly Wondai Country Markets will be operating at Coronation Park in Wondai's CBD from 7:00am to 12:00 noon today. Today's markets will feature stallholders selling fresh fruit and vegetables, arts and crafts, useful knick-knacks and clothing. There'll also be live entertainment; lots and lots of other stalls selling great gifts and goodies; and special hand-made treasures from local artisans available from the Gallery's new "Studio" building just a short stroll across the park. The BBQs will also be firing up from 6:45am to dish out hearty breakfasts for early bargain hunters. Yarraman Kindy Cent Auction
The Yarraman Kindergarten will be holding their annual Cent Auction at the Yarraman Memorial Hall in Browne Street, Yarraman today. Doors will open at 8:00am and the last cent auction tickets will be sold at 9:50am before the auction gets underway at 10:00am sharp. As usual, the auction will be offering a jaw-dropping range of prizes (150 in all) including holiday vouchers, kids products, theme park tickets, beauty products, auto products, home cooking, produce, vouchers and lots more. There'll also be hot food and a canteen available if you get peckish. The auction is a major annual fundraiser for the Kindy and admission is just $5 for adults and $2 for young people aged 2-12, which includes a great morning tea, a sheet of tickets and an entry in the Lucky Door prize. Peter Pan - Kingaroy
St Mary's Catholic College will be presenting a public performance of "Peter Pan - The Musical" at their Maryknoll Centre at 10 Kent Street, Kingaroy at 6:00pm this evening. The show is based on the Disney film and J.M. Barrie's play, and is a modern version of the timeless tale about a boy who wouldn't grow up. The score includes new arrangements of classic Disney songs and a story featuring one rousing adventure after another. Everyone is welcome and an admission fee applies.
Proston Men's Shed
The Proston Men's Shed will be meeting at the old railway station building at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston for its regular Saturday morning meeting today, kicking off with a cuppa at 9:00am. Nanango Mini-Market
The Nanango Mini Market, which runs on the 4th Saturday of each month outside the Churchyard Opp Shop at the corner of Drayton and Burnett Streets in Nanango, will be running from 7:00am to around noon this morning. Apart from offering great bargains at great prices, the markets also have a $2 sausage sizzle, $1 soft drinks and gold coin donation tea and coffee if you get peckish. Men's Saturday Bowls - Yarraman

Wondai Parkrun
The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed run at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event. More details? Send an email.
Sim Richards - Maidenwell
Entertainer Sim Richards will be performing at the Maidenwell Hotel from 6:30pm until late tonight. Admission is free and there'll be meals and pizzas available from 6:00pm. More details from the hotel on (07) 4164-6133.
Saturday AFL - Kingaroy
After several weeks on the road, the South Burnett Saints men's and women's teams will be playing welcome at-home matches at Kingaroy's Lyle Vidler Oval (just next to Bean Growers) in Youngman Street today. The men's team will be playing the Warwick Redbacks at 2:30pm in the 9th round of the Allied Pickford Cup, and they'll be followed by the women's team at 4:50pm, who'll be playing the South Toowoomba Bombers in the 10th round of the Westpac Women's Cup. A bar and canteen will be operating in the grounds and spectators are very welcome!
Bowls Club Bingo - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Bowls Club at 141 Youngman St, Kingaroy will be running bingo matches from 7:30pm this evening with over $1000 in prizes on offer. More details from the club on (07) 4162-1404
Saturday Soccer - Kingaroy and Wondai
The 11th round of this year's local football competition will be run in Wondai and Kingaroy today. In Wondai, home team Barambah will play Gunners at the Wondai soccer fields norfth of the Wondai Sportsgrounds, with the Women's Division hitting the park at 1:00pm, followed by the Men's Division match at 3:00pm. And in Kingaroy, Wests will play Panthers at Tom Alford Oval at the end of Oliver Bond Street, starting with the Women's Division match at 4:00pm, followed by the Men's Division match under lights at 6:00pm. A canteen will be operating at both venues and spectators are most welcome. Meanwhile - in Junior soccer - games will be played at the junior fields in Oliver Bond Street in the morning.
Saturday Rugby League - Nanango and Wondai
Rugby league fans can head south or north today for some bruising footy action. In Nanango, home team Stags will play Kingaroy's Red Ants at Fred Kassulke Oval on the D'Aguilar Highway south of town in U6s at 8:00am; U8s at 9:00am; U10s at 10:00am; U12s at 11:30am; and U14s at 1:00pm. At 2:00pm, there'll be an U18s match between the South Burnett and Gatton, which will be followed at 3:00pm with an U16s game between the Stags and Red Ants. After this, the A-Grade clash between the Stags and Red Ants will occur at 4:30pm. Today will also be Mexican Day at Fred Kassulke Oval, and spectators who dress as Mexicans can be in the running for a $100 prize. And north in Wondai, home team Wolves will play Murgon's juniors at the Wondai Sportsgrounds on the Bunya Highway north of the CBD in U6s at noon; U8s at 1:00pm; and U10s at 2:00pm before the day's A-grade match between Wondai's Wolves and Cherbourg's Hornets takes place at 3:00pm. Canteens will be running at both venues and spectators are very welcome.
South Burnett Rail Trail Day Trip
Noosaville's Outbike Australia will be running a South Burnett Rail Trail Day Trip for cyclists today. The day trip will pick up participants at Noosa, Noosaville and Gympie and will offer three options: an easy ride from Kingaroy to Murgon (45km sealed); a hard ride from Murgon to Kilkivan (45km unsealed); and an extreme 90km ride from Kingaroy to Kilkivan. Bus fares are $120 return from Noosa, and bikes can be hired for $20 if you don't have your own. South Burnett locals are also welcome to take part, and there's $40 rider and bike transfers from Kilkivan to Kingaroy available if you need help getting back home. More details? Rob Fitz-Herbert - Kingaroy
Entertainer Rob Fitz-Herbert will be performing at the Kingaroy RSL in Markwell Street, Kingaroy from 7:00pm until 11:00pm tonight. Admission is free. More details from the RSL on (07) 4162-1755.

Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
