Father's Day
Today is the first Sunday in September: Father's Day, the counterpoint to Mother's Day and probably the one time of the year that thoughtful children make their Dad breakfast in bed, get him his iPad so he can read the news and then stay well out of his hair for at least an hour or two. Most of the pubs and clubs around the South Burnett will have lunches on today ... but ring first, as they may already be booked out!

NananGO PLAYfest
The Nanango Theatre Company will be presenting the the final day of their three-day 2026 Heritage NananGO PLAYfest one-act play competition at the Nanango Cultural Centre in George Street, Nanango from 10:00am this morning. The event is fully accessible, fully catered (with a bar) and is just $15 per session (three plays) or $50 for the whole weekend (14 plays). Tickets can be booked online or purchased at the door. Kumbia Museum
- The Kumbia and District Historical Society's museum, located in the Federation Heritage Centre behind Kumbia Hall in Bell Street, will be open from 1:30pm to 3:30pm this afternoon. Linville Monthly Markets
The Linville Progress Association will be holding their monthly markets at Linville Community Hall from 7:00am to around 12:00 noon this morning. The markets are held on the first Sunday of every month. There is a great BBQ breakfast available and lots of fresh produce, home-made foods, crafts and bric-a-brac. Everyone is welcome! Archery Fun Day - Nanango
The Barambah Bowhunters and Field Archers Association will be holding a Sunday Fun Day - a Come & Try archery day - at their range in Bowhunters Road, Nanango (just next to Virgil's Artisans Village on the D'Aguilar Highway south of the CBD) from 9:00am to noon this morning. Beginners (even if you've never held a bow before) and regular shooters are welcome! Cost is $20 (range fee plus bow and arrow hire) or $5 (range fee only, BYO bow). All ages are invited!
Kingaroy Sporting Gymkhana
- The Kingaroy Hack & Pony Club will be holding a sporting gymkhana at the club grounds in the Kingaroy Showgrounds today (entry via First Avenue). The day will begin with a march past 9:00am.
Free Sunday Lunch - Kingaroy
- A free community lunch is available every Sunday from 12:30pm to 1:30pm at The Old Railway Station building, O'Neill Square, in Kingaroy. The Community Serving Community Meals Project is co-ordinated by the South Burnett Support Alliance and relies on volunteers from the local community.
