111th Annual Kingaroy Show
The first day of the two-day 2018 Kingaroy Show will be held at Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street from 8:00am when the gates open until late tonight. In addition to the usual horse and cattle events, this year's Show will feature the Chainsaw State Titles; Mini Horses; a Ute Show; vintage tractor and chainsaw displays; Aussie FMX Freestyle Motocross; a big display of caged birds from the Burnett Birdkeeper's Association; chainsaw ripping and sculpting; and a lot more besides. There'll also be a jaw-dropping Sideshow Alley that's always the biggest in the region. The Show's official opening will occur in the main ring at 1:30pm and this will be followed by the Grand Parade. There'll also be a Giant Fireworks Show around 7:30pm that will light up the night sky. Single day tickets to today's Show are $15 for adults and $10 for children aged 12-17 (under-12s can get in for free). There's also free parking available in the grounds, and free show bags for the first 1000 children through the gates. More info? Phone the Kingaroy Show Society on (07) 4162-5800.

Saturday AFL - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Saints women's team will play the Toowoomba Tigers at Lyle Vidler Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy at 12:50pm today. This will be followed by a clash between the Saints' men's team and the Dalby Swans at 2:30pm. A bar and canteen will be operating on the grounds and spectators are very welcome.
Saturday Soccer - Kingaroy
The fifth round of the South Burnett's local soccer competition will be played at Tom Alford Oval at the end of Oliver Bond Street in Kingaroy today after some upset last-minute changes to the schedule prompted by the Labour Day long weekend. A scheduled Women's Division match between Wests and Panthers was played on Thursday, and another scheduled Women's Division match between Barambah and the Gunnettes was forfeited by the Gunnettes. As a result, only two Men's Division matches will be played today: Barambah v Gunners at 4:00pm, followed by Wests v Panthers under lights at 6:00pm. A canteen will be operating on the grounds and spectators are very welcome. Note: There will be no junior football games played today, and the Toowoomba competition is taking the weekend off, too.
Saturday Junior Rugby League - Wondai and Cherbourg
There will be no senior rugby league games this weekend because key A-grade players will be in Toowoomba to play in the annual 47th Battalion competition, but there will be junior games played. In Wondai, the Wolves will play the Murgon Mustangs and in Cherbourg, the Hornets will play Nanango's Stags. U8s will play at 10:00am; U10s at 11:00am; U12s at 12:30pm; U14s at 1:30pm; and U16s at 2:30pm. Spectators are very welcome.
