South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Goomeri Pumpkin Festival
The 22nd Annual Goomeri Pumpkin Festival will be held in Goomeri from 8:00am this morning through until around 4:00pm this afternoon. As usual, the 2018 Pumpkin Festival will feature a wide range of market and novelty stalls; all-day live entertainment; Giant Pumpkin and Best Decorated Pumpkin competitions; and the Great Australian Pumpkin Roll down Policeman's Hill at 2:00pm in the afternoon with a Lucky Spot prize of $1000 and lots of other cash prizes for section winners. Other things to look out for include cooking demonstrations; live entertainment; antique car and bike displays; billy tea, damper and stew in Dickinson Park (along with an all-day BBQ and lots and lots of food stalls); roving entertainers; and more. Sunday Bingo - Wondai
Bingo games will be held at the Wondai RSL in Mackenzie Street, Wondai this afternoon, with eyes down from 1:30pm. There will be 3 jackpots and 15 games on offer, and the kitchen will be open for light meals. Proceeds will go to help Wondai RSL veterans. More details? Phone (07) 4168-5297.
Googa Googa Creek Bush Picnic
Past students of Googa Googa Creek State School and anyone with an interest in the history of the Blackbutt-Benarkin area is invited to attend a Bush Picnic at the Googa Creek Cricket Grounds today. Providing you BYO chair or rug, $10 will buy you lunch, sweets, a cold drink, tea or coffee plus an afternoon of yarns and entertainment. Googa Googa Creek State School operated from 1920 to 1950 and is now a vanished part of the South Burnett's early history. To reach it, you should turn onto the Crows Nest Road at the Radnor Hotel in Coulson Street, Blackbutt and follow the directional signs for about 12km. Sunday Poker - Kingaroy

Hivesville Country Markets
The Hivesville Country Markets will be held at the Hivesville Sports Grounds from 7:00am to around 1:00pm today. These family friendly monthly markets are held on the 4th Sunday of every month, and feature a variety of stalls including fresh local farm produce, plants, crafts and lots of food. There'll also be mini auctions running throughout the morning and there's plenty of free parking in the grounds. Bunya Mountains Markets
The monthly Bunya Mountains Markets will be running at Dandabah in the Bunya Mountains today. The markets feature up to 30 stands selling quality, locally-produced fresh produce, arts and crafts and they'll be operating from 9:00am to 2:00pm. Local cafes like Poppies On The Hill and The Bunya Mountains Cafe will be offering special Market Day menus and morning teas, lunches and afternoon teas, and walking trail maps will be available from both cafes, the Bunya Mountains General Store and market stalls if you'd like to take a walk through the adjoining National Park. Les Miserables - Kingaroy
Les MiserablesThe fifth (and final) performance of the South Burnett Musical Comedy Society's production of Les Miserables - the world's longest-running and most popular musical - will be held at Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon Street, Kingaroy at 7:00pm tonight. This is an outstanding 3-hour show with a cast of 75 singers and performers staged in a unique way, and will only be seen in the South Burnett. Last week a record 340 people saw the show's first two performances and gave it rapturous applause. Tickets are $25 for adults or $20 for students and concessions (under-5s are free) and they can be obtained at the door unless sold out earlier. Kilkivan Railway Markets
The weekly Kilkivan Railway Markets will be held in Lester Millar Park in Kilkivan from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. Sunday AFL - Kingaroy
Junior AFL fans should head to Lyle Vidler Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy at 11:00am this morning when the Darling Downs school sport 10-12 years boys team will be taking on Wide Bay school sport side in a trial game ahead of the June QSS State Championships in Brisbane. The Downs and Wide Bay are traditional rivals in opposing pools, and today's match promises to be a great hit out ahead of the June 7-10 carnival. Both sides are well balanced and will be looking to take a win into their opening respective matches.
South Burnett Little Athletics AGM - Kingaroy
South Burnett Little Athletics will be holding their Annual General Meeting at Apex Park in Fisher Street, Kingaroy at 2:00pm this afternoon. All interested people are welcome to attend. Note: This meeting was originally scheduled for May 20, but was postponed a week.
Kumbia Museum
The Kumbia and District Historical Society's museum, located in the Federation Heritage Centre behind Kumbia Hall in Bell Street, will be open from 1:30pm to 3:30pm this afternoon.
