Queensland State Election
The Queensland State elections are being held today and all enrolled voters in the South Burnett are required to cast a vote for their chosen candidate in either the Nanango or Callide electorates (depending on where they live). Polling booths will be open in their usual locations all around the region from 8:00am to 6:00pm and some mobile polling booths will also be in operation. In Nanango, voters can get to choose between the LNP's sitting member Deb Frecklington, the ALP's Ben Rankin, the Greens' John Harbison or One Nation's Douglas Grant. And in Callide, the choice will be between the LNP's Colin Boyce, the ALP's Darren Blackwood, the Greens' Jaiben Baker or One Nation's Sharon Lohse. As always, from later this afternoon you'll be able to get live results from these two electorates - as well as the overall State totals - through the links that will appear on South Burnett Online's front page.

And in the second half of the production, KDA students will showcase a variety of dance pieces in "Around the World". KDA's USA tour team will also be giving the audience a sneak peek of their Disneyland performance routine on the night. Wondai Country Markets
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery's popular monthly Wondai Country Markets will be operating at Coronation Park in Wondai's CBD from 7:00am to 12:00 noon today. There'll also be live entertainment; lots and lots of other stalls selling great gifts and goodies; and special hand-made treasures from local artisans available from the Gallery's new "Studio" building just a short stroll across the park. The Wondai Kindergarten's BBQs will also be firing up from 6:45am to dish out hearty breakfasts to early bargain hunters. Stride4Stroke Community Fun Walk - Murgon
A Stride4stroke Community Fun Walk in aid of the Stroke Foundation will be held along the South Burnett Rail Trail this morning, departing from the Murgon Men's Shed (aka Murgon Railway Station) at 8:00am and proceeding to Barambah Creek and back. Stride4Stroke is the Stroke Foundation's annual campaign to raise much needed funds and awareness to prevent, treat and beat stroke. Sadly, almost half of all Australian adults and almost 80 per cent of children aren’t doing enough physical activity, putting them at unnecessary risk of stroke. Taking part in the Stride4stroke Community Fun Walk is a great way to keep active while raising money for an important cause. Entry fees are a gold coin donation and there'll be a lucky prize draw and a sausage sizzle/brunch available; BYO hat, plenty of water and wear sunscreen. Everyone is welcome!
