Nanango Christmas Races
- The Nanango Race Club will be holding their annual Christmas Race Meeting at the Lee Park Raceway off the D'Aguilar Highway just south of Nanango from 11:00am to around 5:00pm today. Today's races will have an "Summer Shop Stoppers" theme. There'll be Christmas presents for the kids as well as face-painting. Christmas party bookings are welcome! Other popular features of the Lee Park course such as a bar, barbecue and canteen will also be in operation. Free buses will be running from Kingaroy's Glendon Street (noon) and Scotts Car Park in Nanango (12:30pm). Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for pensioners (under 15s are free). Everyone is welcome!
Community Christmas Carnival - Proston
- Proston QCWA will be hosting this year's Proston Christmas Carnival from 4:00pm this afternoon in the parklands surrounding their rooms in Rodney Street. There'll be hot food and cold drinks for sale, a coffee van, Christmas stalls, ice cream van, raffles and a jumping castle for the kids. Rumour has it that Santa may be dropping in, too! Kumbia Christmas Carnival
- Kumbia's 23rd annual Christmas Carnival will be held in and around Kumbia Hall in Bell Street from 4:00pm until about 9:00pm this evening. There'll be stalls, a monster raffle, family entertainment, a ham wheel and a sausage sizzle BBQ. Santa himself will even be paying a visit! Community Christmas Event - Ballogie
- POSTPONED The Ballogie Community Association will be holding a community Christmas event from 2:00pm to 6:00pm on the group's newly cleared block on the Chinchilla-Wondai Road (opposite the Seiler Road turn-off).There'll be a car boot sale, kids' activities, face-painting, music, barbecue and Japanese food for sale and a raffle! Santa has promised to drop by about 5:00pm.
Memorial Park Youth Precinct Opening - Kingaroy
- South Burnett Regional Council has organised a fun afternoon from 3:00pm today in Memorial Park to mark the opening of the new $850,000 youth precinct in the park. There'll be social 3 x 3 basketball and a free throw competition hosted by Kingaroy Basketball Association. An obstacle course challenge will be hosted by the world’s largest supplier of outdoor fitness courses and playgrounds, Kompan. And South Burnett Mayor Kathy Duff will be a cutting the ubiquitous pink ribbon about 4:30pm. Everyone is invited to come along to enjoy a fun afternoon!
55 Million Years Ago 1st Birthday Celebration - Murgon
- 55 Million Years Ago (the museum and art gallery in Macalister Street, Murgon) has a special event this afternoon to celebrate its first birthday! From 2:00pm to 3:30pm, it will opening three new interactive exhibits - including a fossil dig activity for the kids - as well as hosting an elegant afternoon tea and art / craft exhibition. Kingaroy Speedway
- POSTPONED The South Burnett Speedway will roar into life at the Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy tonight for its December Decider race meeting. The highlight of tonight's meeting will be the Queensland Junior Sedan Title but there'll also be Modifies, Productions Sedans, Street Stocks and Modlite 4s. There'll be canteen facilities operating on site, and campsites are available in the Showgrounds if you want to stay over. Gates will open at 2:00pm, racing will start at 4:30pm and the excitement will continue until around 10:30pm tonight. Admission is $30 for adults, $20 for students (with ID) and aged or disability pensioners; or $85 for a family of two adults and two students (children 12 and under are free). Everyone is welcome!
Saturday Library Day - Maidenwell
- The volunteers from the Maidenwell QCWA will be supervising the regular weekly Saturday Library Day (featuring books loaned from Kingaroy Library) from 2:00pm to 4:00pm this afternoon. A library day is held in the Maidenwell Hall in Pool Street every Wednesday and Saturday.
Wooroolin Community Markets
- The Wooroolin Community Markets will be held inside the Wooroolin QCWA Rooms on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin from 6:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. The markets offer stalls, a sausage sizzle, fresh produce, plants and crafts and are run on the 2nd Saturday of every month except January. Kingaroy Men's Shed
- The Kingaroy Men's Shed will be holding their regular Saturday morning meeting at the old Motor Pool building off Geoff Raph Drive at Kingaroy Airport from 8:00am to around noon today. The group meet every Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday morning and new members and visitors are always welcome.
Mr Q - Yarraman

- The last Bingo for 2024 will be held at Woolooga Hall, 8 Thomas Street, tonight. Doors open at 5:30pm with eyes down at 6:30pm. A light supper will be served and the bar will be open! Everyone is welcome.

- The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. Saturday Cricket
- Two games in the Gympie A Grade One-Day Competition will be played in the South Burnett today. Wooroolin Warriors will take on Gympie Harlequins at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy; and Murgon Crusaders will face Gympie Royals at Murgon Showgrounds. Both games start at 12:30pm. NB. South Burnett Cricket is taking a Christmas break with games resuming on January 11.

The starting line is adjacent to the Roy Emerson Museum, off Bowman Road. Runners follow a course along the former railway line and the parkrun group is free to join.
